Player Discussion Brendan Gallagher: all heart, no hands

I've been a huge gally fan and have defended him in the past but he has got to figure it out to not fall off a cliff.

I think the problem is the cluster style of attack he had with Danault and Tatar was perfect for him and allowed him to thrive and control the pace of play and take advantage of turnovers. Now that they have been traded, I think he's a bit lost and is trying to find his way, knowing that he needs to gel with new linemates. MSL wanting a faster team to me means they may deal Gallagher.

I think he can still find his way, but honestly he might have an easier time on a different roster than this one.

Geoff Molson only had himself to blame for approving Bergevin vastly overpaying Gally, Petry, Drouin, Price, Hoffman, Savard and Armia.
Lol Petry was 3rd in goals and 8th in points for defenseman in the league just last year. He was considered one of the best contracts in the league up until having a bad 30 or so games this year. And he's had 6 points in his last 7 games. Most of our team seems to be improving or at least getting back to the status quo under MSL.

For reference just go on capfriendly and look up comparable contracts. I'll do it for you:

Ekholm
Muzzin
Myers
Brodie
Martinez
Stralman
Martin
Edler
Shattenkirk
Faulk
Goligoski

It still looks like he's better than most of the contracts in his range.

For the sake of both the team and Gallagher, I think they should part ways. Fans are going to turn fast.

This is starting to get pretty brutal. He looks gassed on every shift and he’s been making some pretty bad plays whether it be turnovers or penalties. I’m hoping he’s just snake bitten and feeling the effects of that short offseason but idk. He’s got the money now, maybe he’s just done putting his body on the line and getting pushed and thrown around every night. Doesn’t help that the refs don’t like him either. Also must be demotivating to get so many goals called back. If Gally is still here next season, I totally see him bouncing back somewhat. We will see, only time will tell.

I came on here two years ago and wanted to trade Gallagher. While he still was in his prime and trade value sky high. Aided by a year and half left on team friendly 3.5 million dollar contract. Everybody on here was against it. You all loved Gallagher

He's not done, he misses his buddy Danault who was generating turnovers 24/7 and digging pucks in the corner for him.

In two years anti-Gallagher posters be saying same thing about Anderson. He'd be 29 by then, his body aging early due to style of play. With still 4 years left on big contract

Or would you take the colossal return now?

Anderson is not a good comparison to Gallagher IMO.

Completely different style of game and everything involved about it.

Gallagher doesn't score with our centers. Dvorak? Evans, Poehling or Dauphin, who have the best production with Gally? Two options :
1. Find a better center to feed him to the net, a center who will carry the puck central zone and more, around the net.
That's almost 6M spendt.
2. Accept that his production will be low, don't invest in a center, minimise the cost by giving him a 1M center. Put your money somewhere else.
