He is not 5'9". Other sites have him as a 5'11". I'd say 5'10"... not tiny, and fairly strong. Lightning fast, and still young. there will be some offense to be found in coming years. Decent defensively. Reminds me of a young Erik Haula before his kneecap injury took his speed.

This screams to me that they aren’t going to to sell because they are grabbing back players with NHL experience. Sweeney is going to try to retool on the fly. He is looking now and future. We’ll see how this plays out but it’s telling me guys like Marchand, Coyle, Carlo and the rest are safe. They are still going to try to get into the playoffs. Maybe some minor moves left but I don’t think much else
I think they wanted to adjust the pace of the team. Bruins had too many plodding types. With Frederic and Brazeau gone, Wahlstrom in the minors where he belongs, and replacing them with Lauko and maybe Khusnutdinov, the Bruins bottom 6 will be a lot quicker without losing too much tenacity.
They still need top 6 scoring, move out Coyle, and make a decision on Marchand and Geekie.
They may not abandon ship and sell every player, but I don't see any reason to think Sweeney thinks he can save this season. Nor is this a move to try and save this season.
that said I do think the goal is for a retool on the fly for the 25/26 season.

I’d love to see him get some type of opportunity with any type of offensive talent. Guerin never gave this kid a shot with anyone besides AHL plugs. Of course he gives up on him early to bring in his prototypical big slow forward that he absolutely loves. I’m sure we’ll get skated around in the playoffs for another first round exit.
As a wild fan, I already know we’re going to be regretting this trade in a couple years.

I was sorry to see Lauko go so I'm pretty happy to see him return. Not going to make a huge change, that's obvious, but I just like the guy.

I would have taken just the 6th, Sweeney is doing very well so far. Sellers market by far, keep selling Khus has 70% D zone starts. Was a highly regarded prospect draft year.

Not a bad return, at least Lauko and this Russian player seem to have grit that will be decent for the bottom 6, Marat also has some potential, plus we get our own 6th rounder back.

Worse case he is a Russian Lauko and on a 4th line can do worse and Brazeau has sucked since January.
Guerin is the guy that left off Tage Thompson from Team USA for Trocheck or Nelson and ok'd an injured Tkachuk to play ahead of Kyle Connor. Think about that for a moment. That guy is borderline incompetent.

I like this deal for Boston, but also respect that Guerin doesn't get hung up on what are ultimately marginal players. If it helps his team now, he makes the move. He believes Brazeau gives his team a better chance to win this season. Simple.
Doesn't seem like he cares if a former player goes on to have success elsewhere, whereas you get fans who want to hold onto every prospect with their cold hands. Recalling the great Zane McIntyre needs waivers debates around this place, or the hand-wringing that would go on whenever someone suggested they trade Zach Senyshyn for immediate help.
Some GMs take far too much of a long-game approach IMO. It's about winning hockey games, not collecting assets.
Always liked Lauko, glad to see him back, missed his speed, energy and tenacity. I was never much of a fan of Brasseau, not productive enough for such a slow forward.
We'll agree to disagree on Brazeau as I think he is not a viable NHL guy.
Not saying the Russian Wild is at best more than an average to poor 2C, but the Russian is Lauko worst case and Boqvist on average. Ill take that for cement feet who has good hands but cement feet in today's NHL isn't a viable thing.
Wild need right shot forwards and they need size. Braz checks both those boxes and it’s reasonable to think his scoring touch might pick up a little after this. He played well down the stretch and into the playoffs last year.
A local writer said Wild are concerned with Lauko’s hip injuries and probably weren’t going to qualify him any way. They have a pretty deep pipeline of prospects and young players, so they could afford letting their #8 or whatever pipeline player go.
Seems like a good trade for both sides to me.

I never said I like Brazeau, just that I respect the way Guerin manages his team. I have some earlier posts praising the deal for Boston.
Brazeau is a niche player. If you have a specific role for him, I think in the short-term he can help you. Can be a net-front presence on the PP, could compliment a line with two play drivers on a line with lots of offensive zone starts. Bruins didn't have the right spot for him as they lack play drivers in general. Bruins gave up a 1st rounder in 2023 for a similar player in Tyler Bertuzzi IMO. Neither guy should be someone a GM commits to long-term as situations will change.
