1st + Danford is a massive over payment. Basically two 1sts for Schenn making 6.5M
I think it’s gotta be something like 1st + Minten/Danford for Brayden Schenn at 4.5 m-5.0 m while also dumping Kampf. Paying the extra premium for retention is worth it.

If we can’t get Schenn for under 5 m I think we’re better off paying next years first for Laughton imo.

Minten really makes the most sense given the timeline. I don't necessarily love the idea of potentially having Dvorsky and Minten both on the roster next season as our middle 6 Cs. But with Dean losing alot of this season to injury Minten could fill that hole. I guess ultimately there's the chance that Dvorsky gets eased in on the wing too
I'm thinking Minten as well, rumor is the Flyers are very high on him, even to the point of moving Laughton for Minten with minor adds.
So if they were to look into Schenn, I suspect Minten is the offer and the value of the add has to match how much more is Schenn really worth than Laughton. With the cap hit and age, I personally think Laughton for Minten straight up is a better deal

Might be, hard to tell. If you’re looking for a bit more of a scoring punch and flexibility with a more extensive playoff history it might be worth bringing in Schenn even if you’re paying a bit more and he runs a higher cap hit.

I think the front office is probably looking at it like we have to make a real push this year in Toronto given the history of early exits. May push them to chase the bigger fish.

If they’re going to pay that much, go get McCann instead. As much as Schenn fits, he does still have that term left at 33.

Berube and Schenn are very tight. The night Chief got let go, only Schenn and Faulk were out with him later that night at the local hockey bar. I could see him jockeying the brass hard. I just don’t know what type of deal works. The only thing the Leafs have that excites the folks here in STL is Knies. That makes for a way more complex deal. 🤷‍♂️

You think the Leafs should give up a 1st round pick for Laughton? He's not even a centre.

Not true about Knies

Scott Laughton is exactly the kind of player the leafs need.

But I'm not a fan of giving away 20-year olds with Minten's IQ for a guy who will play on our 3rd line for 2 years. I already saw that movie with the Steen for Stempniak trade.
