Value of: Brayden Point

Lots of bad proposals in here.

Guys, this is a 90 point 1C. A good prospect plus a 1st in the 15-30 range won’t do it.

It’ll have to be a hockey trade.

Vancouver has the pieces for this type of deal. (Hughes)
Q Hughes + Willander for rights to Isaac Howard, Emil Lilleberg, and Point, who says no?

Check this out .

Point could be Habs first C , Suzuki on their second line.

MTL : #16 + #17 + #41 + Michael Hage + Owen Beck + Logan Mailloux
for
TAMPA : Brayden Point

Value is there but that would be Tampa throwing in the towel. They need to retool until Hedman and Vasi are done.

Honestly if Vancouver is trading Hughes they probably hold on to Willander.

To Van - Point and Howard

To Tampa - Hughes

Hughes on the back end for Tampa would be a game changer.

The only downside for Tampa is that it feels inevitable that Hughes ends up in Jersey. But Quinn Hughes for multiple cup runs would be significant.

I don’t even think the value is really there.

Two mid 1sts in a bad draft, a good not great prospect and Owen Beck.

I can’t imagine a team that’s trying to win now trading a 1C for that. No chance.

yeah right just ignore Hage and Mailloux and a high 2nd pick,, lolll gezzzz
Probably better then Beck,, : both of them .

That's like 4 x first pick + 2 great assets.

Yeah I really don't see TB waving the white flag. They were close in most of the games of that series with key guys missing or beat up. They're still not far off. It would require a legit star or rising star on the back end with a lot of miles left on the tires and term.

Lightning need to get bigger and grittier throughout the roster. Could use 1-2 power forwards, and some defenseman who can actually play.

Buffalo's players are the ones that stand out most to me. Thompson, Tuch, Dahlin. Reading through other threads, it seems clear that Buffalo would rather not part with Tuch or Dahlin, so that leaves Thompson (which surprises me... Sabres fans, you'd rather keep Tuch over Thompson? Thompson has more points and is a year younger.)

Point has trade protection at the moment. Cirelli does not. How do we feel about:

Cirelli + Rights to Isaac Howard

for

Thompson

How does that get Tampa closer to a cup? (It doesn’t lol)

That’s a rebuild move, not a “still in the cup window” move.

And fwiw you’re overstating those prospects big time.

Vancouver - it isn't enough value coming back.

I like Point a lot, but he isn't worth a Norris caliber defesemen in his prime. He would be worth something like a late 20's #1D, or 2 young players who have contributed in the league. JJP+Byram (young top 6 wing plus young top 4 D) would be something I would see (of course, with picks/prospects included).

Hughes is worth more than point, and I dont think it's particularly close

I really think the Sabres would be good partners. They have young talent that needs leadership and coaching - the Lightning can provide that. Sabres need a true #1 C with term that can try to get them over the hump and into the playoffs - Point can provide that.

Byram + JJP + Rosen/Quinn would be something I'd put on the table and see what Tampa thinks. Byram gives them a young top 4 D, JJP is a young offensive top 6 wing, and Rosen/Quinn are 1st round picks trending towards middle six status.

Yeah you're not wrong.

EP40, Willander and 1st for Point and Howard? Someone's gotta play C for you guys and I'd be surprised if the management team in Tampa couldn't fix whatever's going on with Petey, while he and Kucherov click and reach new heights. Willander for Howard seems fair too since both want out?
