Value of: Brayden Point

Canes would be all over this and have a bunch of assets but not sure they could/would add a really big main piece into the trade, would be more volume-based return which not sure Tampa would go for unless they decide to blow it up

Ideally, Flames throw in a prospect or two to help replenish a pretty dry well for TB (not Parekh, I understand), but I wouldn't be dissatisfied with a trade like this. Why so quick to take it? Is Andersson not as good as advertised? I feel like he would be pretty good with TB

Andersson is a very good hockey player but had a tough go of things this season. There is no disputing that, but he'd be a phenomenal fit next to Hedman.

Kadri loves it in Calgary and probably wouldn't waive. He seems settled down at this point in his career.

Calgary is also in no position to trade Parehk given where they stand organizationally.

Regardless, I just don't see any feasible way Tampa would move Point.

As a Bolts fan (and a gigantic Brayden Point fan) I think of all the big contracts to move it would probably be his.

A couple potential trade scenarios (that may be delusional, Idrk)

To Calgary (Point is from CGY, maybe would accept a trade there, CGY needs offense)
Brayden Point, rights to Isaac Howard

To Tampa: Rasmus Andersson, Zayne Parekh, Ryan Lomberg

OR Rasmus Andersson, Nazem Kadri, some sort of picks

To LAK (Reverse Lightning composition where they have league best D and it falls apart vs Edmonton)

To LAK: Brayden Point

To Tampa: Brandt Clarke, Alex Laferriere, Tanner Jeannot (Lol)

To Buffalo: (they want NHL players and have a ton of prospects, but doubt Point would waive)

Brayden Point, rights to Isaac Howard

To Tampa: JJ Peterka, Bowen Byram, Jack Quinn/Zach Benson
Let's assume Point would waive for Buffalo, I'd want JBB to fetch back Tage Thompson + NHL ready prospect

Kings need to blow up this team and rebuild under an actual GM. They need to build around the young players that they have. Not that your proposal is out of line, I don’t see the Kings a Brayden Point away.

Here is a potentially crazy one: Point and the rights to Isaac Howard for Brady Tkachuk? Assuming Brady wouldn't want to re-sign with Ottawa. Gets to be closer to his brother and would be the face of a major rivalry with his brother. Probably won't happen but would be fun

Not sure why he would traded but just playing along, the Jets would be very interested assuming he waived. OP seems unlikely

He's exactly what Utah needs... but there's nothing that Bill Armstrong would be willing to offer that doesn't result in Julien Brisebois immediately hanging up the phone in response.

I'll try anyway:

-Lawson Crouse
-Connor Ingram
-Maveric Lamoureux
-2025 1st (likely about 14OA)
-2026 1st (probably about 18-25OA)
-2026 2nd
-2027 5th for no reason

Julien Brisebois still hangs up the phone, but at least has the courtesy to say "no thank you" before doing so.

Last offseason, TBL tried to start a small retool, Geekie McDonagh Moser in, Sergachev, Stamkos out. I d assume they would try to do something similar this offseason, Like Dealing Cernak, Cirelli or Paul but Point I don t see the point.
Cirelli is on year 2 of an 8 year and just had a career year in points. Why would you deal him, and if that's realistic, whats the price tag? He'd have interest around the league.

Ditto Cernak seems like a guy you'd hold on to, no?

I would give a ton for him from the Blues. I think a line of Holloway-Point-Kyrou would terrorize the league.

Neighbours, 1st Rounder, Jiricek, and another prospect. Tho idk how close that would get.

For Buffalo, I’d trade three 2nds and two 3rds for him but I’d want to do it in 2014 when we passed on him five different times to take five guys who combined for 13 Buffalo Sabres games played. All of them by Jonas Johansson.
What a great post!

Well done

Following the premise from OP that Point would be available.

Even though it'd be risky to go all in for the playoffs with two sub-6ft C1 & C2, Point is so unbelievably good that I'd pay an awful lot to bring him to Montreal. I bet he would be indecent with Demidov as his new Kucherov.

Any package of players from MTL typically gets ridiculed on this board but I think we'd be looking at 5x1st valuation (which I believe MTL could actually afford). From what I gather from JBB interviews, he doesn't actually value 1st round picks as highly as most GMs, which complicates building this offer.

If TBL is looking for any of Suzuki/Caufield/Slaf/Hutson/Demidov, which I would somewhat understand, then I feel MTL would back out, not because of value but because of the effect on the core longevity. I would add that Guhle/Reinbacher/Fowler would be very hard to replace as well.

That’s like half your roster you don’t want to trade for Point

Anderssons good, Kadris good

I still would take that deal in a heartbeat. Get a hometown 1C thats 5 years younger than Kadri.

Any trade involving Point wouldn't be what his true value is due to his NMC, He would control his destiny to the fullest. I'm sure there is a few teams he would waive for but i give it a 1%-3% chance hes even asked. Now throwing out if it was fair game for any team, id assume the ask would be a youngish 2C, a top 4 RHD, and likely a smaller add either in the bottom 6 or a 2nd-3rd round pick

They need Cernak, and frankly they need to add another defensemen.

I wonder if they would do something like Byram for Cirelli as a way to bring a young top 4 D.

I’d do JJP, Byram, Quinn for Point and Howard

It would mostly depend on his NMC and who can take him on without sending cap in return.
He's signed for his 29 to 34th years... he's no longer young.

I wonder if teams wouldn't rather try to sign a UFA.
