I don't think it is fair to compare Muzzin's first cup of coffee with what is now McNabb's third cup in the NHL.

Never was, never will. It was always about their first full season on the job, learning the ropes and working with expectations.

Muzzin was crap when he first came up. I couldn't fathom what the team saw in him, because he displayed none of the traits I had heard about. Since then he's really grown and turned into a solid D man.

I'm far more impressed with McNabb than I was with Muzzin, and I think he has a chance to be a more complete player. Yes, he's played in the NHL before, but he obviously wouldn't have been up in the Kings system. Keep in mind that McNabb is two years younger. This isn't discounting Muzzins play, he's been really good overall. I think that McNabb has a higher ceiling, and it's great that we may end up with two solid guys that are around DD's age. Three if Voynov works out. That's a heck of a core that could be together for a good while.

Not a chance.

I agree with HookKing. Mcnabbs upside has already come and gone! You can think of it in terms of a full season to see his potential, but he's still on his third cup of coffee! I don't think his skating gets any better, I don't think his breakout skills get any better. He already hits well. What you probably will see more of from him is some offensive instinct. He can fake people out and lug the puck. It's just how much do you want him doing this? Sometimes he's really successful at it, and then other times he just plows into a crowd until he has nowhere else to go. He lugged it a lot more in the AHL. Lots more!!!

I'm happy that we are starting to see a pretty good defencemen in McNabb, throwing some big hits of late.

Only thing I hope to see more out of him is his "big shot" on the 2nd PP unit.

Would you rather see a big shot or a Frolov-esque wraparound?
