Brantford Bulldogs 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part I

Not a bad game.

Egorov played very well again. Starting to see why he was so highly touted with the kility bee's.

Team needs to be more careful at the opposing teams blue line. Was a problem last season and seems to be returning this year

A couple of the high end guys can be careless with the puck when trying to create near the blueline.

It would seem like they have the green light to do so, but live by the sword, due by the sword.

Egorov was tremendous. His ceiling isn't the same as Leenders, but until Leenders can find his game the team is in good shape.

I've been meaning to bring this up and since they have another PP goal today I might as well.

They have moved Lardis more to the blue line area and it has made them less predictable. He still drifts to the same spot, but not all of the time so it opens up ice and it lets the playmakers do their thing.

The other problem with the PP is the lack of players with strong shots. Really only Lardis, Lavoie or Brown (when he is there) are able to really beat goalies cleanly.

Just need more 5 min powerplays I guess haha

Great game today, really entertaining. My only worry is that Brantford went down to 4 D for what seemed the entire 3rd period. The play was in the Brantford end pretty much all the 3rd period so Hamara, Protz. Moore and Robert’s were playing really hard minutes. I worry how much they will have left in the tank tomorrow.

Agreed, the only problem is that Radley and Krmpotic were getting exploited every time that they were on the ice.

They need to rotate them into the other two lines like they did throughout the second…
The 4 played all but maybe 45 secs that Radley saw the ice on Wednesday too…Krmpotic didn’t see the ice at all.
It’s not sustainable..we tried this the end of last year when we were down a bunch of D

Losing too many puck battles.

Just terrible play by Tsherna on the 2nd goal. Brutal giveaway and then lost the puck battle after it.

Nice weekend for the boys though.

Back to back hat tricks for Lardis! Good weekend for the Boys. Hopefully we can stay in a playoff spot and star climbing once Vanacker is back.

They need to add another Dman and they will be pretty solid on the back end once Jiricek gets back.

Doesn't even need to be a stud. Just somebody that can play solid minutes on a 3rd pair.

I continue to be blown away by the improvement of Roberts. I did not see this coming. If only he could control his temper better.lol

Is Caleb Malhotra going to sign with Bulldogs?
His dad is coaching in Abbotsford which is under 30 minutes to Chilliwack so I’m thinking probably not. Also let’s assume if he did come to Brantford and it was only for a year and a half, is it worth the conditional draft picks we give up? He’s not exactly lighting up the BCHL, i don’t know how much of an impact he would have this year. I would be more intrigued if we get him this year and atleast two full seasons after.

I do wonder if one of the impacts in particular the next couple of years is that players that were planning to go NCAA at 18 delay their enrolment for a season or two as schools can now get ready to play 20 year old CHL grads as freshman instead of an 18 year old who played two years at lower level junior hockey than the CHL leagues. With Boston U now have a deeper pool of players to recruit from, maybe it puts pressure on Maholtra to join the OHL to prove to them he can produce at a high level.

I’m sure in his ideal world he would like to play somewhere in the WHL before going to NCAA. If Brantford released his rights, would we still have to give Kingston the conditional picks?

Maybe an overaged big d man? Konnor Smith from the attack comes to mind.

I was excited for Lavoie but I'm not sure he's the best option for an overager on a contending team and Im not sure where bujold is but I'd probably prefer an overager like Kammerer was than either of the two.

I agree about Lavoie.

Smith would be a very nice add, but I would sooner add somebody that they could get 2 years out of so that they can use them next year as well.

Glad we got the win last night in Peterborough. Games like that make me nervous. Your playing against a desperate team with a lot to prove, on the road after a long bus ride and two big games this weekend. Cant take the points for granted!

No they wouldn't have to pay the picks in this example. But BFD wouldn't release his rights, there'd be no reason too.

I guess just for long-term relationship building with that agent, being a player friendly organization. I totally understand where you are coming from, I'm just thinking of the perception that you can create to the greater hockey world.

Robert’s and Testa out. Playing a forward short. Is there not a forward they can bring up? Now with the NCAA rule changes no one has to worry about losing their eligibility.

Tsherna out too…suspect he might be done for a while.
Not a good weekend to have a thin lineup - 3 in 3 all divisional games. 😬

Didn’t see that one. I saw parts of last nights game, did Tshwrna get hurt or a suspendable play? They had Chan play forward in a pre season game, suprised they would rather go a forward short than moving Chan to forward. There not even dressing 7 D.

Hurt. He went it to make a clean hit and dropped. I suspect knee injury - and likely a decent one the way he went down.

Been awhile since I've been to a live game (thanks Jawk) and boy do I miss it.

Great job by the boys gutting out a win. Didn't see that coming at all.

Somebody had their shoulder in a sling in the press box, but I couldn't make out who it was.

Only 3 regular D in the lineup against a powerhouse Generals team and getting a win is beyond impressive.

They can't have much in the tank for tomorrow, but they can worry about that tomorrow. 4 out of 4 pts is great for them.

Holmes didn't come back after his fight.
