Value of: Brandt Clarke

If any Kings fans support such a backbreaking trade, it's because it's their hope that the front office gets nuked by ownership.

I don't think there is any way that a fan should support trading Clarke for Rakell. I could see Greentree and a 1st/2nd being a trade that Kings fans might be able to stomach, it's an overpayment but it's not nearly as horrible as trading Clarke for Rakell. You should be able to get a better option than a 31 year old Rakell if you're trading Clarke.

Just like Kings fans should be concerned that their idiot GM will do something stupid like trading Clarke for Rakell, Penguins fans are concerned that their idiot GM will hold onto Rakell because "Crosby needs someone to help him score points" or some other moronic reason.

The Kings SHOULD be looking at a Reilly Smith/Kyle Palmieri and a back up goalie.

What they will do scares the hell out of us. It doesn't surprise me one bit that there is talk about Clarke being anything other than a PP specialist - its a realistic concern. But even then, we are talking about a formidable weapon on a team with ZERO likely NHL defensemen in their prospect pool.

There is nothing more likely than Rob Blake shopping on Rodeo Drive at fancy silk haberdasheries at an ultra premium rate for the three-legged sow of a franchise he has built.

The question isn’t “would Rob Blake trade Clarke for Rakell?” It’s “how much will Rob Blake add to Clarke to bring in Rakell?”

I’m guessing it would be Clarke + 2nd but if you can sell the perception of a bidding war hard enough I’m sure you could get him to up it to a 1st.

LA is not a contender, and they are going to be *at best* a mid-tier team for the foreseeable future, so I just don't see trading #1 picks or their top prospects for any player that doesn't immediately benefit a rebuild.

Blake is a moron though, and I've seen him do dumber sh*t. Bud is trying to save an unsavable job so I can see him pushing all his chips in.

Kind of sad to to think that a Faber for Clarke trade would be considered a huge steal for LA.

Rakell will add a upgrade in RW play, scoring as a RG shot for the PP ect. He is a proven goal scorer and they are in demand. Yes he was injured last year but still his versatility to play off wing and he is 31 with a 5 million AAV in a rising cap. Clarke may be a very good prospect but you simply never know what he turns out to be. Pens can get more here.
