Player Discussion: Brandon Hagel

Feel bad for Hagel, he show that deserve the 1st line. Very hard worker player, who can score and also contribute with some hits and is not afraid to drop the gloves. I know is almost impossible to see him in the 1st, sometimes injustice is part of it.

I bought a black Hagel jersey last year when they came out. The official store didn't carry Hagel's 3rd jersey so I had to have it custom made. They screwed it up and sent me black #50 Kucherov jersey (yes, seriously), and then took weeks to complete the exchange and get it fixed.

The first time I got to wear it was the night we got eliminated from the playoffs, which sucked.

Definitely my favorite jersey, though.

Side note: I need to get a C patch put on my Hedman jersey now too.

I've somehow just now realized that Hagel is a Sabres' draft pick. And he's easily the best player they drafted in that draft too. They're truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Crazy how they didn't sign him. Wasn't even like his junior production cratered, it just didn't pop off to a notable degree until his overage season
I just figured he was drafted by the Hawks and never actually checked it.

Probably their best draft pick other than guys like Dahlin and Power in all these years too

Hagels got the kinda sneaky speed and tenacious play style that scouts seem to always miss.

great interview with him at 1:16:08 where he goes over his path to the nhl and how the Sabres didn’t sign him:

Can we appreciate the work this guy does game in and game out. I know it resulted in a bar down not quite down enough miss, but how many guys are forechecking on the pk, punk the puck carrier and make a perfect pass then follow right back with an attack. Dude's engine never stops.

and only 6.5 mil in cap...amazing, if JBB loses his job in Tampa, he can write only 2 lines in his resume for being hired and get paid many moneys, those line would look like this
"Trade for Hagel and signing for 6.5mil
Paul trade and signing for 3.5 mil"

Hagel – who will represent Canada at this week’s 4 Nations Face-Off – led the NHL with 4-4—8, all at even strength, in four contests to lift the Lightning (31-20-4, 66 points) into third place in the Atlantic Division via four straight wins over division opponents.
The 26-year-old Hagel ranks second on the Lightning and 16th in the entire NHL with 26-36—62 through 55 total appearances this season. He also places among the 2024-25 League leaders in shorthanded assists (t-1st; 4), shorthanded points (t-1st; 6), even-strength goals (3rd; 24), even-strength points (5th; 49), goals (t-9th; 26) and plus/minus (t-10th; +24).
