But, Lynch has to wear a chunk of the blame here as the GM should have been prepared for this. Asking a guy to play out the 5th year option when you give new money to a RB, though it's CMC and he's their best weapon, and now Williams wants a new deal, as he also has no more guaranteed money. But, as GM, he should expect guys who are done their guarantees to want new guaranteed money if they are still at the top of their game. Thus, should have moved Aiyuk earlier so that he'd have draft capital to use on someone they wanted and would have been active in free agency to secure another WR or use the $14 mill slotted for Aiyuk somewhere else.
