Confirmed with Link: Brady to Fla: 9oa, 25oa, 2029 1st, and a 2nd

I literally cannot believe this. Mostly because I was not expecting it to happy so quickly.

Few thoughts:

- The return is alright. The 9th OA pick is obviously very valuable. For the situation we were in, not in control, I think Staios did well. A little frustrated we couldn’t get the 2029 without protection because I thought that was a big part of the return with Florida possibly nosediving during those years.

- Great job by the team not letting this get out until the trade happened. Yes there were rumours but it wasn’t expected right now. This definitely simplified the process for the team.

- I’m anxious to see what Staios does next. We need 2 top 6 forwards and maybe a defensemen. The market is difficult and there aren’t that many high end guys available.

- I can’t imagine how the rest of the players feel.

It's atrocious no matter what people delude themselves into thinking.

And people who think we're better simply by subtraction are even more delusional. Brady might have been regressing, but he filled a role almost no one else can fill, and I don't see how we can replace that through trade with these picks. Had we gotten a top-3 pick I might have felt differently.
Totally agree. Staios needs to hit a home run now

Sandy the next one to ask out.
I won’t necessarily blame him. Shit looks bleak for this franchise.

The f*** are we going to do? Our division just keeps getting stronger and we’ll be lucky to take a lateral move in the standings next year. Nobody is going to waive to come here. We have the worst scouting department in the league so not even a rebuild seems enticing.

Sanderson might be the only good thing about this franchise.

The size. His play style. His young age. His really solid numbers.

The return for this player is laughable.

Why rush to trade him if it's 2 years away? You have a whole 2 years to get the most back for him. Surely this wasn't the end all be all deal, even with the 4 team NMC.

And tbh, the petty part of me thinks.. if Brady wants to be like that.. considering the return was very lukewarm anyway, hold on to him the 2 years and trade him near the deadline so you took 2 years from him. See how he likes that.

Which one of Carolina, Vegas, Florida or Minnesota had a top 3 pick to offer?

You're pissed Brady is gone, but this is about as good of a deal as we could have expected.

A worse GM like Dorion would have insisted on getting a player in return. Staios is smart enough to know picks are currency and can easily be moved to acquire players.
He tried to get Lundell or Verhaeghe FLA said nope according to reports.

I don't think Jason Robertson is worth 4 picks.

You'd think Dallas would be moving heaven and earth to keep him if they thought he was worth what he is asking for.

He's easily worth two 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd. Unprotected is always dicey.

Let's say we send 9th+2029 1st+future 2nd+future 3rd to Dallas to Robertson.

So the end result is that we traded Brady for an extended Robertson and 25th overall.

If I proposed Brady for Robertson+25th yesterday, people would think I was nuts.

Jake Sanderson is guaranteed the next captain of this franchise by the way. 100% guaranteed.

He will lead this team on and off the ice and he will be a great leader.

It won’t be Stutzle and it won’t be Chabot.

Sign a player for Brady's $8+M.

Then ask yourself if you would trade

Brady

for

That player +
A top 10 pick 2026
2 more first
2nd

The answer is yes, every day of the week yes.
What player you going to sign that's first line material? After Tuch there's nobody.

This is the most sane reaction.

It's hard to tolerate a teammate who you think isn't giving 100% of themselves. People can put up with a lot, but not that.

If I can see it through my TV screen then certainly the guys in the room with him are well aware that he had one foot out the door for months.
He clearly didn't give a shit this year. It was palpable from the stands. It must have been impossible to ignore in the locker room.

There aren’t many guys. I think Robertson might be available but I anticipate Dallas will do everything possible to keep him.

For Tuch I don’t think he would come here and I certainly wouldn’t be happy giving him ridiculous money to come here.

Any sad sacks moping about this trade need to get over it - sounds like everyone wanted Brady gone, including the players.

Good. f***ing. Riddance.

Makes me wonder if behind the scenes Brady was vocally unhappy about his diminishing role as the team got better.
