I think Brady forgot the message
I think there is a big difference between defensive zone play and back tracking through the neutral zone into the defensive zone.

Brady lost his man on the 2nd goal after the Sabres were set up. This is the area Brady's reads and execution need the most improvement

Would help if he even had basic ability in this area. He’s a detriment every time he’s in the defensive zone we’re basically on a pk

Why isn't the problem identified by the coach and if it has been why hasn't it been rectified to some degree.
Maybe he’s just not capable. Also. He’s captain and our number 1 super star winger lol.

What can you do. He was given the keys to the Ferrari before he could even drive.

Eugene was losing millions. He had a billboard asking for him out.

2019-2023 was throw everything at the wall to get stuff to stick, so that 18,000 plus fans attend.

So Captaincy to Brady. 8 x 8 to a bucket full of players. One insane goalie move after another. Any stunt to appease fans. All the while, hoping and praying, it works out. Well, it may not be working out!!

The Euge may have lost $400 M.. I heard it from CJ Stevenson on TSN1200.. In 2018 we heard $185 million... by 2023 it was $400. An extra $215 Million in 5 years. $40 Million a year!

They were so desperate, it was try anything time.

As not to mention, they were scared shitless that Brady bides his time until 7 or 27 and F's off.

That was so infuriating. Even on the 3rd goal...block that damn shot, nevermind trying to bat it down with your stick ffs

just dumb comments. He certainly needs to improve but at the same time he's been playing far better defensively this year than previously. But you seem totally oblivious to that.

these dumb comments reminds me of certain flames fan shitting on Mtkachuk asking him to stop playing his style only to realize their team is dogshit without him

^ Exactly to both of your posts.

1/ Brady generally fights when we are down and he's pissed.
2/ Fans in markets like ours shouldn't sh1t all over the guys who play with the hearts on their sleeves or risk running them out of town.

Not sure where you see him playing even passable defense.

Winning is fun I pay to see winning.

I love Brady, but does he seem slower this season? I'm used to him finishing his hits every shift and being mean to play against, but he seems a bit behind this season.

He may be racking up points BUT he isn't making this Team better or harder to play against. I am sorry I am just not seeing any 'super star' qualities in him that can take games over and the team to a whole new level

Brady problem is he really only noticeable in the offensive zone, he won’t have that star quality to take over a game until we notice him without the puck in the neutral zone, when that happens and Brady has any semblance to an Alfie, Stone, Hossa - then we will be a winning team. Until then we’ll struggle with consistency because our best player can’t impact the game in all 200 feet of the rink.

Brady is still all these years later just an offensive zone player, he’s like a Bobby Ryan that fights

In that second goal, his man scored. No effort at all....then with 8 minutes to go in the game, he wakes up, finds the missing gear, starts skating hard, starts hitting and becomes the intimidating pest that he is....maybe he needs to sleep in the other room or find himself a good pair of ear plugs....the new born is clearly interrupting his REM sleep. I hope this is all it is.

I have accepted that Brady will never become a defensive stalwart. He has a lot of tools in his toolbox that he brings to a game on most nights. He isn't the only non defensive stalwart on our team, there are many players on our team and other teams that blow their d-zone coverages unfortunately.
But he does get double teamed and take abuse from one or even sometimes two of the other teams biggest dmen on a shift to shift basis which creates space for other players to do their thing or creates at minimum a screen in front of the opposing teams net which creates scoring chances for our team.

Come on with this bullshit excuse...the guy's made $30M+ in career earnings. You're telling me they don't have an overnight nanny to help with the newborn???

I feel like you might have a distorted view of how the rich live...

Like, do you think they all drive around in their Bentley's asking if you have any grey poupon too?

I do not know a single rich person (like millionaire rich, not even Brady’s level) that did not have significant help for a newborn child. Yes, including night nurses.

Most just use their grandma’s at beginning for help.
They’ll have a cleaner come in a couple days a times a week, but overnight nanny’s isn’t the norm for hockey guys.

Fair enough. I don’t know their world. Just saying not unreasonable to expect a really rich guy to do really rich guy stuff.

Regardless, newborn baby no excuse for poor performance. Plenty of guys in the league work through it just fine.

I was looking at the underlying numbers for Brady,

A couple things stood out to me;

FA/60 37.29 is the lowest of his career by a significant margin, was 41.1 last year
xGA/60 of 2.12 similarly is the lowest, was 2.73 last year.

The "for" stats went down pretty much proportionately, so the FF% and xGF% remains similar albeit a touch lower.

All this suggests he's likely "cheating" less for offense.

pts/60 are up from 2.38 to 2.69, but he's shooting less at 10.4 instead of 12.4.

Blocking a lot more shots, 2.35/60 vs 1.52 the year before, and hitting a bit more. The blocks suggest he's in lanes more, the hits might be from the forecheck, so I won't read much into that.
