The thing about breaking up the core, Brady isn’t committed to the city or the fans, he’s committed to this group of players and he wants to win with this group of players. If they change that core and move out one of Brady’s besties or a guy he thinks is key to the future, then suddenly Brady’s commitment to the team is shaken and broken. Brady wants to win with Norris, Chabot and the Nodal guys. He’s not interested in rebuilding the roster and trying again.

For this to work, Brady needs to back check
The truth is Brady won't start playing good defensive hockey until SS brings in Kevin Hayes. He's committed to winning as long as Hayes is on his line. Until then he's gonna do it his way.
He's also mentioned that every Timmys in the palladium needs to be replaced by a duncan donuts. Just in case you didn't pick up on the sarcasm in paragraph 1.

You don't think so?

Mike Hoffman was better than Brady at D. Like I'm trying to remember a Senators players who was more clueless defensively than Brady and I'm coming up with a blank.

Spezza who got so much shit for his D was like 2x the defensive player.
Soezza was also such a juggernaut offensively he had to play defence like 5x less than Brady

Tkachuk was finally backchecking in the second half of last year, did he suddenly forget how to do that?
its one thing to backcheck... its the awareness away from the puck in the dzone.. he looks like a duck out of water. He needs hours in the film room.
Backchecking is the easy part

I am taking him off the Stutzle line. They both seem to confue each other in their own end. And I am laying blame more to Brady, who always seems winded when it is time to play defence. He reaches without moving his feet, just cheating and honestly it is starting to really bother me

lool calm down, its a conversation about 2 highly skilled young players tied together due to circumstance. no ones trying to make anyone feel better

for what its worth i think Byram has more upside than Tkachuk.

Brady shots on goal rank

2024-25 - 24th
2023-24 - 4th
2022-23 - 4th
2021-22 - 9th
2020-21 - 2nd

SF/60 All strengths (SF - Count of Shots for that player's team while that player is on the ice)

2024-25 - 228th
2023-24 - 8th
2022-23 - 12th
2021-22 - 100th
2020-21 - 70th
(from Natural Stattrick on ice player stat rates)

That shot volume is a big part of Brady's game.. slow start compared to the previous 2 years at least.

Likely because of his shoulder.

Sloth from the goonies needs to start playing better defence. This team won't win if he's blowing the zone early trying his patented 80 mph wrap arounds.

does Brady take too many shots though?

like every player close to him in shots last year was around a 100 point player, and most of them also put up 50 plus assists.

his closest comparables in terms of shots to points are Caufield, Hyman, Tippet. not sure what i should think about that lol.

Crazy that he’ll pass Spezza this season

Really interesting seeing how Greens relationship with Brady is evolving. Brady is a great leader but obviously he has trouble focusing his team and getting them ready for 82 games to battle, seems like Green has taken the respobislitu for this and the weight away from Brady. Brady’s team was a no show vs Habs, NJ and ABs and Green managed to focus the entire group and keep the focus away from Brady.

Green really take away the pressure on Brady and helped with the leadership side. Brady having a good season but to me he looks quiet. And that might be the new Brady under Green, a more quiet player who becomes a scorer instead of the everything man we want him to be

I am really impressed by Green and his feedback in front of the mic. He's the right guy for the job I think.

Have we seen a bigger turnover in a stars player game ever over 1 summer?

Safe to say the start of the season he looked a bit flat and I thought adjusting to the no fighting, no penalties game the coaching staff wants was a bit of a headf*** for #7 - but skill has totally overtaken his game now and he looks like a pure goal scorer now instead of a hybrid whatever he was that we was tough guy/net front guy we couldn’t define before seeing success.

Best pure goal scorer the Sens have ever had, he can literally score from anywhere and the fact he’s scoring from the outside now as much as he is from the blue paint and tips he’s just so effective. underrated passing game too showing up this season, always had an amazing offensive hockey IQ but his playmaking is at another level too this season.

He doesn’t look scary to fight and lose his temper, hes scary because he’s going to torch you on the score sheet.

Yeah, let’s see how this season goes. Heater had his first 50 goal season at 24 and Brady just turned 25.

If you start counting their goals from +1 draft season including Dany 2 x 50 goal seasons the count is

Brady 140 goals
Heatley 180 goals

Anyways, the fact that Heatley was given an “A” over Mike Fisher shows how stupid the team was back then - I say this because of course Brady kept the flame alive here in Ottawa when the owner was trying to put it out and Heatley through a grenade into an excellent team not by asking for a trade but by not working hard in the summer before the year he got traded and of course had an entitled attitude that sinks good players.

No comparison in my mind, Tkachuk is a better goal scorer and he will blow past Heatley’s 372 career goals.

Incredible defensive game by Brady.

He was hauling ass on the backcheck and it makes such a huge difference. 100% percent captain shit.
