Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

First of all, "they" means Marner because the rest had NMC's, correct?

Second - did CJ say what Tre thought himself? If he had no desire to move Marner anyway then it's on him. And if he did want to move Marner but was told he couldn't, then he didn't have to take the job but he did anyway so again, it's on him.
That's a ridiculous take. You actually think that a career hockey guy would pass on the opportunity to become GM of the Leafs because he was told Marner couldn't be moved? He has still been able to make a lot of moves over the past couple years to try to get the team over the hump, and importantly, did push Marner to waive his no trade for Rantanen. I'm not sure Tre is top 10 in league GMs, but this particular mess sits squarely on Shanahan.

If you take the job, you take the responsibility, simple as that.

Personally I don't care if he stays or gos.

Great:
Stolarz

Good:
OEL
Tanev

Whatever:
Carlo
Lorentz

ABYSMAL:
Not moving Marner last year
Making a 13x8 offer to Marner
Laughton who had fewer points than Matt Rempe in his last 20 games
Paying more for Laughton than Marchand
Not getting Marchand who literally might've changed the series

Too many abysmal decisions for me, not like he did anything in Calgary or has any pedigree at all.

Out: Marner Rielly Jarnkrok and Kampf

In: Bennett Tanev Mangiapane Savard

JT resigns 4 years at 5M per as 3rd line C

Instantly a much improved playoff team and some CAP flexibility to upgrade at TDL

I still can't understand why he signed Klingberg, who shouldn't have been medically cleared or signed, and then went right back and did the same thing with Hakanpaa.

I mean, this team actually has a doctor on its main hockey decision-making staff.

JT at 4mil caphit(he can take those deferred deal where his real salary is like 5-6mil). Also he must accept his new role such as not guaranteed PP1 time.

Would add Ekblad and Brown to that list and take out Mangiapane and Savard.

Tre f***ed up then
Marner still isnt signed
Agreed 100%.

If I was him, I would have traded Marner before his NMC kicked in, plan B would to sign him for a fair price instead and again, before the NMC kicked in. There is no plan C so I give him a failing grade, simple as that.

The biggest mistake Dubas made was the Marner contract, Tre seems to be walking in his footsteps. This franchise is cursed I tell ya, cursed!!

He had what? 5 weeks to do that? LOL

why would Tre be responsible for Dubas coddling Mitch?

He was handed a spoiled brat.

He'd look like a guy coming in forcing a Marner trade to just swing his **** around and likely we'd have people complaining he made a mediocre trade.
So he doesn't do the right thing because he's afraid of what he'd "look like"?

If that's the case, he has no balls and is the wrong man for the job. You do what's best for the team, not what you think is best for your image, this should be obvious.

Not nearly enough time. He did wonders in the short time he had

He didn't ive Mitch that NMC...he didn't let Shanny hire a f***in noob to bury this team and move onto Pittsburgh to do the same.

LOL

Dude comes in after we watched MLSE piss away our AM years with a f***ing intern....addresses the issues we've had for a decade plus in d and goaltending...and Dubas homers blame Tre

You can't make this shit up
Are you having trouble reading basic English?

Dubas is responsible for his actions, Tre's responsible for his actions. This is basic stuff, consult a dictionary or something, sheesh.

You Dubas homers REALLY need to stop giving your opinion on management.

You're perpetually wrong. LOL

We have years of data to prove it

I wanted to turn the page on Marner as much as the next guy but what if the offer is absolute trash?

"We'll give you Zach Whitecloud and a 2nd"

"Sorry we don't have cap space unless you retain 50%, I guess we could give you a conditional 1st and our 4th ranked prospect"

The cap was a real problem 2 summers ago, I think I landed on Vegas and like one other team that would be a possibility. I also thought Vegas last summer was maybe a place he'd waive for.

Tree has been "good to very good" - I like our defense and goaltending but our forward group needs a lot of work now.

How far do you commit on term/dollars in the off-season with McDavid and Kaprizov headlining the 2026 UFA class?
