Brad Treliving is doing a great job.

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Trev traded away 2 firsts and 3 prospects for salary retention and a 2 depth players.
Zito traded a conditional 2nd , received 50% salary retention on Marchand
Doing great Trev…
The retention upped the cost unfortunately. This is where we look at bloat like JT 11, others making too much, etc for needing to do this. I do not agree they are depth players though as you casually suggested to fit your narrative. They will both have a significant impact on the team imo and with term, good term.

this is hard to digest but it is fact.

If Tre’s Leafs can make it pass the 2nd round of playoffs just once, he is already Tre most successful GM since Quinn.

Sad but true.

Let’s wait till playoffs over before giving him a GM grade, lol

Just before the deadline Matthews said something about he hopes we get help at the deadline. I love #34 BUT I hope Brad makes his own subtle reply in saying something like, well I did my job all I can hope for now is our leaders show up in the post season.

Brad did a great job at the deadline. Not to go all Pulp Fiction on anyone but " look at the brains on Brad ". ( Brads brains eventually end up splattered in the backseat. :)

Good trades considering everything and the limitations. It gives us a decent shot this year to win a couple of rounds.

Next year’s NHL roster looks really good to me:

2 goalies under contract
$6,170,000

7 defense under contract
$25,700,000

7 forwards under contract
$35,800,000

Key UFA’s
Marner
JT
Lorentz

Key RFA’s
Knies
Robertson
Homberg

It’s a decent amount of cap remaining to sign

The first thing I would do is try to talk to Rielly about a trade. Free up his cap and target a forward.

Mitch best offer is 12 take it or GTFO. I am totally fine targeting heavier wingers

JT - 3 years @ 6.5 million or Bennett

Might see them give Cowan a cup of coffee next year.

I am really curious what Knies next contract looks like.

I don't see Robertson or Holmberg as Key RFA's I see them as VERY replaceable pieces in fact as of today I wouldn't give either one of them a raise.

I almost feel bad for Tre. He was brought in by Shanahan to fix a huge mess Dubas made. But it's ingrained by nmcs and an empty pool. So the guy responsible hires another guy to fix it after firing the guy who built it,Lou. Then after they fail this year they will rerun it. It's an infinite loop with no way out since they always make money no matter what.

I think shanahan is out .the leafs aaking marner to waive was a 360 under shanahan

not the skip forward to next season but his job is so much easier this off season then it was when he got here or last last off season.

The defense is set, I mean MAYBE you could replace Benoit as your @6 but that's not neccessary.

The goaltending is set I mean you could extend Stolarz but it's not neccessary.

Your LW is solid with Knies, Mcmann and Jarnkrok

your RW is a question mark due to Marner's contract status. but even that's not so bad 2 of your top 3 RW spots are filled with Nylander and Domi

and you may need d a #2 center depending on what happens with Tavares

and you have about 30 million in cap space maybe more if the cap goes to 97 million instead of 95.

The team is in good shape.

The D doesn't look great and everyone is a year older... I don't think this team is in great shape.

Woll has struggled this year at times so another goalie may be needed at least as a 1B.

A #1 RW and #2 C is not an easy thing to find.

Tre should head down and shit can Berube. Team does not respond to him. The core ain't changing.

Hail marry interim coach like Boudreau

Tree

"OK Gourde and Nelson are gone let me check HFBoards and see what centre we should now get...OH some guy named Laughton lets get him.."

"Im looking for another tall defenceman who cant pass the puck but can block shots after giving it away...what Carlo is available do we have any firsts left?"

The new big boss that isn’t here just to sell jerseys should head and shit can all of them starting with Shanny

I was ok with Tre actually until the Laughton disaster. What a waste of a first rounder. I think they are actually WORSE with him on the ice as I can recall multiple plays where he caused a goal

You can use first round picks to offer sheet a great player as well. But that ain’t happening now.

Tre acquisitions have been blah for the most part. Tanev being the bright spot but for how long?

We got bigger and slower and older and this is a young man’s game.

Berube style is trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

He hasn’t put his best players in position to succeed.
It hasn’t been a great coaching job this yr.

We get outplayed…outshot…on a lot of nights. Every game is a close game and we rely on our goalies to win it.

He says he wanted to be aggressive but in reality it’s a passive team. Dump and chase intimidates no one. Our D main pass outlet is to bounce it off the boards. Constantly giving up possession isn’t a good recipe for success.

We can blame Dubas or Keefer but Tre has made the team worse, older and slower …and Berube is not getting thru to the players.

I blame Dubas. This has played out as expected.

I think this off season the team needs to move on from both Shanahan and Treliving. I'd keep Berube, but the players are clearly running things. The Leafs have gone through multiple coaches now with different styles, and yet same issues continue, so it's pretty apparent that the Coaches aren't the problem it's the Culture and certain players that have been around for a while.

This team hasn't moved of this loser core after all their playoff failures. No way do they make such a drastic move with 16 game remaining in the season. Q is the only guy I'd fire Berube for and he is probably still radio active for this politically correct organization.

The only ones that can save this season are the 5 players making all the money.

Pelley needs to fire everyone down to the Zamboni driver.

Blow it all up Brad.
Don't sign JT or Marner
Trade Matthews to the penguins, Dubas would be all over him.
Crosby 2025 first and Tanner Howe

Nylander to Islanders for Dobson plus Pageau
Get rid of Domi Kampf and Jarnkrok
Trade Rielly for prospects

Sign Bennett
Sign Ehlers

Caproom next season for McDavid

Knies Crosby Cowen(yes to learn from the best)
Ehlers Bennett Robertson
McMann Pageau Laughton
Lorentz Holmberg Steeves

McCabe Tanev
OEL Dobson
Benoit Carlo
Rifai

They will have no more impact than what Minten and Grey would have had, plus the 2 first round possibilities. We sold the farm and the neighbours farm animals for a duck pond.
You have now given up the picks that could have replaced Marner, for 2 players that we minus, 1 of them minus for his career and you want him yo be a shutdown center.
Treliving was desperate, over paid, tied our hands next year, sold our future in players and picks, for a team that is 15 points behind the Jets and YES, the Capitals. Maybe we make the playoffs, maybe not, but this us the end our our run.
Next 2 years, no Marner, no picks, no Minten, Grey, and we watch Domi play with AM. Wow!
