I'm happy with what Richards accomplished tonight. My own idea was that he would take time to get to his potential.
My points?
1. After 20 games, I stopped believing that lack of physical conditioning is the reason.
2. Could putting Richards with some new linemates be the correct strategy, as part of a win-win? The first win is the fact that Stepan-Nash-Hagelin are together, as they should be. The second win may just be that Torts realized he had stuck with Brad long enough on the 'first' line, but now the luxury of time was gone.
3. Brad Richards cares. I never, for one millisecond, believed that he did not care. That made zero sense to me.
4. The jury is still out, at least for me, as to whether Brad will play the same way for games in the near future. The future is now.
I am optimistic though.
