Unbelievable how much better he looks playing with (2) big guys who can skate and do the dirty work down low. Those are the types of players he has played with most his NHL career. He looked better tonight and I like Boyle on wing 110% more than center

He had a great game tonight, can't deny that. I hope it's a sign that he's finding his groove. That'd be a huge, huge advantage for this team.

I understand getting on him when he is bad. He was good tonight. Have to call it both ways.

Played 15 minutes instead of the usual 20. I guess he's more effective in limited ice time. Not a good sign of conditioning, but if Steps keeps playing like this, I guess we can deal with it.

His skating has been piss poor all year. This is a clear sign of conditioning. I think the lock up really messed him up, no excuse, just saying.

Richards from early May made an appearance tonight. If he plays like that every game, we don't have problems. Hope he can play like this for the rest of the year. And next year too.

I'm happy with what Richards accomplished tonight. My own idea was that he would take time to get to his potential.
My points?
1. After 20 games, I stopped believing that lack of physical conditioning is the reason.

2. Could putting Richards with some new linemates be the correct strategy, as part of a win-win? The first win is the fact that Stepan-Nash-Hagelin are together, as they should be. The second win may just be that Torts realized he had stuck with Brad long enough on the 'first' line, but now the luxury of time was gone.

3. Brad Richards cares. I never, for one millisecond, believed that he did not care. That made zero sense to me.

4. The jury is still out, at least for me, as to whether Brad will play the same way for games in the near future. The future is now.
I am optimistic though.

As he is very consistent in these departments you have bolded and he's making the money he makes, he is an embarrassment to the franchise and every Rangers fan . His game is not close to being what it is on average for him. It's deflating rapidly. The article yesterday makes him sound like a head case spending as much time on an analysts couch as he is on the ice FFS! People have zero sympathy for a guy making $9 million with insecurity issues.

He should be benched just for making those quotes. Get out there and play every shift like you actually have some pride in yourself.

How bout Richie tonight eh?

He was mediocre again tonight besides that PP goal. Invisible, turnovers, muscled off puck, etc.

He played like **** in the first but I think he really pulled through during the last two periods. That last goal happened because Richards hussled for the loose puck.

Gut him like a tuna no freaking way is he worth his salary and he is a negative value to the Rangers. IN a 2nd line center role at 4.5 million maybe he has value but good god the Rangers deserve better than the value he has given to them.

Still not very convinced. Looked better overall, but Beaver still needs to be better. A lot better.

He played a good game, but not topline-center, 7m/year, Alternate Captain level. He still needs to step it up. First goal in 25 games... From our 1st line center. Says enough what kind of season he's having. Let's hope he can turn things around after this.

Forget what they're paid - look at what they do. Our top line is Step-Nash-Hags. Meaning Richards is not our top line center.

Kudos to the coach for getting it right.

If Richards plays well in a lesser role, good for us.

He was on line 3 centering Boyle and Kreider. Cut down his ice from 20 to 15 and voila, ppg and an assist. Beautiful play.

This , Richards as a third line center would make him the best 3 C in the game . Richards being paid Crosby money to play 2C/3C makes him a buy out candidate now. No way can you have 7.5 M in cap for a guy to show up on r in awhile and against the Flyers who happen to be our punching backs
