Brad Richards Part II

Nine points in his last five games; at least one point in each of those games.

He's starting to come on offensively, just in time for the playoffs. Great to see.

He also hasn't done it at the expense of the other two centers on the team. I firmly believe he's taking advantage of not seeing the other team's top defenders anymore.

He got credited with a goal tonight, and he deserves credit for putting the puck toward the net, by my god, he was really bad tonight. I'm normally defending him, but watching him in the defensive zone was MADDENING.

But **** it. We have a bunch of players who "aren't playing well" but keep putting up points. I'm at the point where i'm ok with it.

As bad as he's been I'm still glad Richards is on our side going into the playoffs. He seems to just have a knack for big goals.

I think Richards will have good playoff series. Confident that he'll lift.

Glad he got a goal, but he was an absolute turnover machine tonight. It's like he panicked and started blindly throwing passes to the middle of the ice at both ends of the rink.

Yes, too much of that from both him and Brassard last night.

Quietest 32 points on the team. He's basically averaging 2 points every 3 games. Does it feel that way to anyone?

Probably played himself out of a potential summer buyout.

Completely disagree with this. With the cap coming down next year and us having RFA's to sign, I would think Richards' 2013-14 cap hit can be used for better purposes.

And if he is not bought out this summer, Richards ABSOLUTELY HAS TO BE BOUGHT OUT NEXT SUMMER. That would be the last chance to exercise Sather's last buyout, and we cannot possibly leave Richards cap hit out there for the next seven years after this one.

That would be insane.

Yeah, unless Brad scores 90 points next season, I think he'll be amnestied in 2014. Just too much money and term invested in an aging center whose best years are behind him.

Im willing to bet a large sum of money that the Richards buy-out doesnt come until 2014.

The roster will still need him - hopefully a vintage version of him - next season.

...and beyond actually, but thats a different story.

up until his goal....he was having a terrible game. Like you said.....turning pucks over blindly, not making any good plays, passes to the opposing team.

that being said.....Richards won't be bought out till 2014'. As bad as he has been (and hopefully he gets hot in the playoffs), he does have 9 points in the last 5 games and we have no one with the "potential skill" to replace him with if he's bought out this summer.

there is absolutely no reason to give him another year. especially with steps, mcd, and hags 2nd contracts due up.

Stepan and Brassard are clearly better than Richards AINEC. Doesn't look like "Playoff Brad" will even be making an appearance this year. This guy can't skate, can't do anything productive with the puck, he is dooooone.

Richards once again today looked like he had his special cinder block skates on. This guy is absolutely awful, slow as a turtle and really offers nothing at this point. He is beyond frustrating to watch.

so outcoached. need to not put him with guys like zucc who actually pass the puck cause he can't play unless he's the only one with legit passing on his line.

should be nash/stepan/zucc. moving nash is fine, but you should move zucc, too. zucc and nash are great together.

I hate him. It's one thing to not produce. It sucks, but if effort is there, you shake your head, and start to feel bad for the player. Richards is flat out lazy. No effort to back check on a 2-1 going Hank's way. IN THE PLAYOFFS. 0-0 GAME. Zuccerello, the "lazy European who is a defensive liability," hustled back and covered for him. Get rid of this bum.
