In the early 90's I was working for a small ski area and we wanted to add tubing. I was given a phone number of a guy in Mass who was selling off a bunch of his tubes because, as I remember it, their business was failing.

They told me the owner was some hockey player. At the time I had absolutely no interest in hockey and it made no difference to me one way of the other who he was- he couldve been Gretkzy and it probably wouldnt have mattered to me.

The place I had to call was Amesbury Sports Park and they guy I needed to speak to was someone named Brad Park. I remember the name of the place because I always thought it funny how they called it Amesbury Sports Pack (how do I spell out 'Park' in Boston accent?)

I spoke with him a few times and he just seemed to be a very regular guy. I always think of this whenever his name comes up or when he shows up at MSG.

The funny thing about it is while this guy was such a popular person in the hockey world he was completely unknown to me. It's just reminds me of my ignorance as an early 20 something...

Park was on the ice for a goal against!

If I had known that I would never have felt the way I previously did. Thankfully Leetch was never on ice for one of those. How about some of the stinkers Richter gave up in the playoffs? How could they retire his number?

So, was Bourque's career in Boston lessened by never winning a Cup there? Hasek in Buffalo? Osgood won more cups than Hasek. Guess he was better. Logic is fun.

It was a key moment that cost us a game in the final round in a series we lost 4 games to 2. These are moments that great athletes wait their entire life for. Brad Park was a great Ranger and IMO the second best defenseman we've had in my lifetime--better than Beck, Greschner, Zubov or whoever else except for Leetch. That key moment though he got faked out of his jockstrap by a 4th line winger who had played the entire season for the Bruins and had not scored one single goal. It's a play that shouldn't have happened.
