This is a guy I'm curious about. Where do we think he goes? Another contender? Chases money on a bad team?

I think it comes down to how much he wants. If he wants to stay in FLA he's going to have to take way less than the open market will give him. If he's looking for one last payday than it'll be to whichever team gives him the most. Regardless of location.

Wouldn't mind Detroit throwing a 2 year deal around $8.5M/year at him just to instill some passion in these guys.

Need more of that attitude and less of our captain crying to the media that he needed a trade to boost team morale.

Marchand has been underpaid his entire career and just won his 2nd Cup, I think he’s ready to cash in. Maybe his time in Florida changed his feelings, but I can’t see him leaving a bunch of money on the table to stay in with the Panthers at this point in his career.

Florida will have info on a chart showing why 6.5 is the same amount of take home pay as 8ish in many many cities

He was born to be a Bruin but destined to finish his career on this Panthers team

Underpaid or not, he still has a career earnings that amounts to way more than he or his family will ever spend in their lifetime. None of us knows what goes through another persons head. But money is not a concern for him.
