I agree. But why can’t you just buy his jersey anyway? He’s a Bruins legend and it’s perfectly legitimate to wear his jersey after he’s gone as it is Bergy’s, Chara’s, Bourque’s etc etc etc.

After undergoing three offseason surgeries, Brad Marchand said following a workout at TD Garden prior to the Christmas break that he does not expect to regain 100 percent efficiency this season. “I don’t think I’ll get back there ‘til next year,” said the captain. “You never catch up after you miss a summer of training — to make up for three or four months of training, it’s just not going to happen in the season.” Nonetheless, Marchand was on fire with a 10-game scoring streak (7-6–13) as he left for the break, tracking what could be his second 30-goal season since 2018-19. “I was in a lot more pain at the start of the [season] than I [expected]. Marchand turns 37 in May and is on an expiring contract. Both longtime teammates Patrice Bergeron (38) and David Krejci (37) called it a day right around the same age. Marchand plans to continue, which probably means a two- or three-year extension. Price? Likely around the $5 million Bergeron banked in his final season, though perhaps adjusted for the increase in the salary cap …

As the the season wears on them old legs get tired

His ice time needs to be managed between the 1st half 2nd half of the season

If he doesn't retire he should be offered 1 year deals
