If Brad wanted to be traded for his own reasons - maybe it's playing with Sid, maybe it's another cup, maybe it's something else - then as a sign of respect I'd do my best.

But in no way am I dealing him for any reason other than that. It's plain old stupid.

I agree. But why can’t you just buy his jersey anyway? He’s a Bruins legend and it’s perfectly legitimate to wear his jersey after he’s gone as it is Bergy’s, Chara’s, Bourque’s etc etc etc.
I likely will when I come up in April and hopefully I will be able to wear it to a game :)

Loose pucks

After undergoing three offseason surgeries, Brad Marchand said following a workout at TD Garden prior to the Christmas break that he does not expect to regain 100 percent efficiency this season. “I don’t think I’ll get back there ‘til next year,” said the captain. “You never catch up after you miss a summer of training — to make up for three or four months of training, it’s just not going to happen in the season.” Nonetheless, Marchand was on fire with a 10-game scoring streak (7-6–13) as he left for the break, tracking what could be his second 30-goal season since 2018-19. “I was in a lot more pain at the start of the [season] than I [expected]. Marchand turns 37 in May and is on an expiring contract. Both longtime teammates Patrice Bergeron (38) and David Krejci (37) called it a day right around the same age. Marchand plans to continue, which probably means a two- or three-year extension. Price? Likely around the $5 million Bergeron banked in his final season, though perhaps adjusted for the increase in the salary cap …

3 year deal at 37, for 5 mil, after all these surgeries, not a smart business decision.

Gotta love the iron man but he's a lot closer to 40 than 30 yo.

As the the season wears on them old legs get tired

His ice time needs to be managed between the 1st half 2nd half of the season

If he doesn't retire he should be offered 1 year deals

He's in the same spot as big Z was his last year here

Love Brad but... 5 games no points. He's got to get it going again. If him and Pasta both get back to playing their games they can carry this offense.

Anyone else think they should wait and see how this season plays out before offering him an extension? If they end up going for an offseason rebuild it makes no sense to give him a contract.

He's been okay, but I do think a big reason the PP isn't as good is that he seems to be losing his shot a bit. They don't have to worry about him as much and can just stack the otherside.

I'd resign him for as long as he wants to play and accept his limitations given his age. If he wants a multi year deal, so be it.

That was bascially what they offered Chara and he chose to walk. Either way, I'd let Brad make the choice- that is right thing to do with a guy that has given the club everything he has for so many years. On another Brad note, he's kind of sucked the past 5 games. I thought he finally got back to Brad form, but it's dipped again. Is it just the malaise of the entire team affecting him, or has he reached the stage of the career where he can't give what he used to as consistently?

I look at this roster and the players woefully underperforming and draw a parallel between the massive holes in the top 6 and guys being asked to slot up above their roles, and chalk it up to that. It's hard to score regularly when you're literally playing with 2/3rds of a line all the time.
