Value of: Brad Marchand to Colorado

Marchand and Carlo what would their worth be. Bruins are in limbo whether they’re going to sell or buy. When all is said and done I think they become sellers.

Carlo obviously from Colorado and is still a steady reliable defenseman just don’t expect much physical play and at times seems like he has a brain freeze, but he’s still a number 4 defender.

Marchand is still elite despite has age and obvious loss in speed, he still can produce and create offense, problem being in Boston, he’s been ask to carry a line and play with arguably 3rd liners and at this stage in his career Marchand can’t do that alone.

Bruins I feel would be basically looking for near NHL ready prospects/ picks
Also even though people meme alot about Marchand, he can offer significant leadership qualities. He has learned from some of the best, throughout his entire career. Something Avalanche have been missing since Landeskog (atleast from a non-COL fan view).

Think Marchand would thrive in Colorado tbh.

People think of him as just a pest and ignore his skill. Including the shortened 12-13 season he is closing in on his 15th straight 20+ goal season, with five 30+ seasons along the way. He plays in all situations and is a captain of an original six team. Yes, he's not what he was ten years ago, but there would still be a lot of interest.

Captain of an original six team!?!?!

Take my money!

So the mood I'm getting in this thread is that the Avs don't want Brad Marchand? Is that right?

I guess another way of saying that is that the Avs would prefer to play against Brad Marchand in the playoffs? Cuz if it's not Colorado, it's Vegas, or Edmonton.

It certainly isn't striking fear in any of us.

We dont need wingers, so no. Not all that much interest in Marchy. Certainly not the price of the OP

He's a 37 year old rental on pace for 64 points. Wouldn't it be bad for the Avs if those teams used their trade capital getting someone younger and better? If it were actually possible, the best case scenario would be for them to both overpay for him.

I mean, we'd take him, but not at the cost of Nichuskin. That's a net-negative for the Avs. Also there's no guarantee he's moved, let alone to one of their rivals. There's about 5 other teams he could go to.

It should.

He's got 31 points in his last 24 playoff games, and is an absolute terror to play against in the playoffs.

Younger doesn't equal better. Mark Recchi was instrumental in the Bruins Cup run.

Colorado hasn't had a player like Marchand since they let Kadri walk.

I don't know why the OP suggested Nichuskin. No disrespect meant to the player but the Bruins aren't trading their captain for a guy who may or may not be healthy enough to play, even if he is a great player.

The Bruins would want Ritchie.

I doubt it would take Ritchie to be honest, but it's something to at least stop and think about. Especially if they were confident in re-signing him. I think a lot would depend on how they view Landeskog's status.

I think the Rantanen move made it significantly less likely the Avs do something like this...even without a contract, the Avs could have kept their star 100+ point winger and made a playoff run with him if they actually believed in going all-in this season, yeah? The fact that they didn't means they're thinking longer term and aren't interested in UFAs and losing high value assets for nothing. I'd say they makes it very unlikely they would trade anything of note for a soon-to-be 37 year old pending UFA.

Yes, he's not what he was ten years ago, he’s already tied his point total from that season just 54 games in!
