Brad Marchand puts his hand around Nick Cousins' neck by the benches

Jesus Christ.
I’m not wishing that on him. He’s unstable and reckless and doesn’t know when he’s in over his head. There is something wrong with him . Licking choking and admitting he tries to hurt players on other teams. Something is off with him and in the real world the refs and his teammates won’t be there to bail him out. Hopefully he gets therapy when he retires. He needs it.

You do realize he’s the exact opposite of the ice, right?

I’ve seen his interviews. Let’s see how he does without any outlets. Plenty of guys are aggressive on the ice and gentle off it. Those guys don’t lick opponents they don’t choke them they don’t purposely put their stick in their face and they don’t admit trying to hurt opponents. Again I don’t wish him ill. I think on some level he is ill.

This is such a wild take.

It isn’t one or the other. We aren’t trading issues here, the point is that for all the off-the-field shit, NFL does a lot better at keeping players in line during the game.
Football vs hockey is about as apples vs oranges as we can get but ok. You're entitled to your opinion. I'll agree to disagree and call it a day since this is going nowhere.

But sure, Aaron Hernandez existed so Marchand can choke people.
Choke.. WWE-style choke maybe. If he actually choked him, Cousins would have left in an ambulance. I could see 2 minutes unsportsmanlike conduct at best. Maybe Cousins or Brady should have dropped their gloves with Marchand if it was such a big deal? If Cousins wasn't too busy trying to draw a penalty on the play, maybe. Of course, that doesn't keep rival fans from coming out of the woodwork but they can stay angry. Lauko's hit in the Wild-Flames game was 10 times worse than this.

My dad’s a mechanic would u like me to fix your car?
Not the flex you think it is. I’m a lawyer too. Seen the same stuff just didn’t involve guns. Anti social behavior ends up crossing our desks. Either when someone commits a crime or someone is emotionally overwrought as in a divorce. We see the awful part of human behavior. There are social mores that most people don’t cross. The social mores are relaxed in pro hockey but even he crosses them among his peers. I’m not saying he’s an awful person. I think he needs some help. If he thinks choking someone is ok he needs help. He wasn’t emotionally charged when he did it. It’s just who he is. He’s cold and calculated. He knows what he’s doing and chooses to do it in front of thousands of people. Either he has impulse control problems or he doesn’t care.

Again wild take.

Wow. This thread has a lot of sensitivity pulsing through it. Hope everyone is staying safe and is generally ok. Marchand triggers something in some of you that I don’t think is entirely healthy.

I think I speak for the majority of people on here when I say that you are overreacting and your job doesn't get to make you an armchair psychologist. Cousins is a scumbag who riles people up, Marchand gets creative with his punishments but that doesn't make him "ill" or in need of help. You might be a lawyer and your wife is a district attorney, but my dad works at nintendo so I know what I'm talking about.

(telling people your job on an internet forum is cringe just fyi)

I didn't hear anything about a fine or suspension yet. So he's getting away with it??

I guess the NHL prefers to turn a blind eye with one of their 4 Nations "stars"...

My wife was an assistant district attorney and I’ve seen the worst of human behavior long enough to have seen similar types of people unfortunately.
You dont know shit about Brad Marchand and are talking out of your ass. You shouldn't really comment on things you have no clue about. What type of asshole predicts someone's death in 3 years.
