0% chance he touches the hall with his falloff post 2022
He cost himself hall of fame with poor 2023 and 2024 seasons as his first 6-7 years of his career were not even hall of very good level let alone HHOF
If his prime had lasted longer (2017-2022) by 2-3 years he would have made it

I won’t argue about it, but I have to at least post his similarity scores from hockey reference, as everyone on the list is a HOF or going to be a HOF player.

Literally every player there is better than Marchand for peak/prime and career (all have a ross/hart/lindsay/rocket or multille top years of contention)
Marchand was a bit behind that.

I believe it’s a feature of the new Excel Spreadsheet Viewing (ESV) module.
Basically it allows you to not have to watch games any more. You just stare at an Excel spreadsheet that automatically updates with “expected” this and that. Apparently there were 457 “expected” goals in the NHL last night. Not sure who exactly expected them or what happened to those expectations, but the Excel sheet sure was exciting as hell. That update at 9:52PM EST was just amazing. All the numbers changed a lot!!!!!
I also think he lacks and won't make the HOF - but it's definitely not 0%. He does have a shot.

Just asking but, if you're the Bruins why not wait? What's the rush? He's at a point age-wise where the dropoff could come quickly so why commit before you have to?
Or is this simply that they want to honor his contribution and do the right thing PR-wise, so do it now so everyone's happy?

Love Marchy but going forward the Bruins need to not be handing out 3 year deals to players on the wrong side of 30 already significantly slowing down.

Imagine saying someone cost themselves a chance at the hall of fame because they only scored 67 points in back to back seasons as a 35/36 year old. Selanne literally had a whole string of years from 31-34 where he fell off hard.
I don't know how many players with 4x or more All Star finishes who didn't make the HOF but I have to assume it's very few if any.
