I did too. Personally, I think Dorsett is an idiot on skates. In addition to being not much of a hockey player, hes not much of an agitator either -- unless you consider handing out powerplays to the opposition a positive thing

guy gets in on the forecheck, works his butt off, and keeps the puck in the zone, a pretty good board player too.

people wanna hate him for his stupid penalties, thats fine, but the guy has some really good shifts out there, particularly being the first man in, and causing a turnover by forcing a bad pass with a big hit.

The only thing missing from this thread is Bardof.

Really solid analysis here. OP has a future in hockey.

Your wish is my command. Moore is playing well; Boyle is not. They are not on the ice for virtually goal against especially now that they are not playing on the same line. Happy?

Dorsett has much better skills than Boyle. It's actual comedy to even debate it. Keep the Boyle love fest going; you are both getting closer to eating alot of crow. btw, at this point he's barely a 4th liner at ES.

Dorsett and Moore, two players with "much better skills" than Boyle, combine for less points than him. But isn't that our debates in a nutshell? I'm concerned about what the players do, you're concerned about what your mind's eye can see them doing based on their skillz.

Doesett is undersized, so I could see how his play comes off as more scrappy and fan friendly -- doesnt mean hes effective, however.

When are they going to eat crow? When Boyle gets traded? Only bad players get traded!

Theres much much bigger fish to fry when it comes to why this team struggles. Your obsession with Boyle is a nice comedic distraction for me.

Boyle starts 16.4% of his shifts in the offensive zone. And he's not scoring a point per game? While I never...

Boyle and Moore, basically, almost always start in the defensive zone. Competition is avg. If these guys produce any offense at all, it's a miracle. Constantly starting in your own zone and of course they're going to be on for more goals against.

Not sure what people are expecting from bottom 6 forwards who only see their own zone. Really IMO, the ownness is on the forwards getting the offensive zone starts. If they get scored on 5 on 5 its because they basically messed up and turned the puck over in the oppositions' zone.

Moore and Dorse are both more skilled than Brian Boyle, and have been getting some bad puck luck.

But, Johnny Malkin is more skilled than Ryan Callahan. Doesn't mean ****.

I.E BRAD RICHARDS, thank god he was playing wing last game and the coach finally can see he cant handle the Center role let along any role with his play. He fell about 5 times last game.

Looks like Dorsett has been getting some bad puck luck for a while.

Since 2010-11, Dorsett has a lower points per game than Boyle, even if you exclude Boyle's 2010-11 season, which as we all know was one big fluke and can be ignored at will.

Like I said, John Mitchell is more skilled than Ryan Callahan. skill =/= production

Look me in the eye...or at least, in the screen, and tell me you think this years brian boyle is even remotely as productive as he was in previous years.

he barely touches the puck anymore, and when he does, its just a dump in and a quick out heading back his way.

When he gets benched. I agree, trading him doesn't mean he's
bad Captain obvious. Boyle has made two plays this year; the
Pass to McD and the goal that were offensively effective. he has blown various dunks given to him by the likes of D. Moore that have hurt the team. Otherwise Boyle
has received second assists that were pure serendipity like yesterday when he gets the assist but not the plus cause he was on the bench when CK scored. And again moore is taking most of the big draws now. Why?

No he hasn't. I think he started off well, but his play has declined. I wrote a piece last week about how he's not producing enough shots.

But by any standards, he compares favorably to Dorsett, who's most frequent offensive zone event is a penalty.

Not obsessed. I was asked to join this silly discussion. When i read misguided defenses of this cow
On ice i am obligated to object so that group think doesn't
Take over and people begin to
Believe that he's a good NHL player. He's not; that's all. I've never started a thread to bash this guy. I'm a Ranger fan and don't even boo at games. But he's gobbling up valuable ice time that
Could be given to another player who in my estimation will likely do more to help us win.

The Rangers dressed 11 forwards last night because their forward depth sucks.

Let me know when this fictional player comes along, or when you blindly endorse someone else over Boyle, like the Jeff Halpern incident.

AV has the same numbers you have. Why is moore centering the 3rd line, taking most of the big draws and participating in the shootout if Boyle has the better skill set? I guess the coach is also relying on something other than stats.

While I agree he's been used in an extremely defensive role this year, he has had his chances, and generally has been unable to do anything with them.

His low shot totals are deceptive because he's been missing the net even point blank.

They dressed 11 forwards to protect McI's minutes; you know better than that. Any combination of Cally, Miiler and Asham would do more to help us win than BB especially if Moore is taking the lion's share of the defensive duty when we are tied or ahead late in games which
Appears to be the trend. Do you still really think brian boyle is a better hockey player than jeff halpern? Yikes.

At the time you made that declaration last year? Absolutely, 100%

You were right in 2002 though.
