Yeah, they have historically played really well when the star players are out of the lineup. I wouldn't be surprised if they play a solid shut down game tonight and grind out a low-scoring win. Maybe it will help that so few people will be paying attention to this game tonight because of the US election.

The bottom 6 to me rather horrandous
We are not getting any scoring support from them

McMann, Robertsson, Holmberg combined has 3 goals in 30+ games combined
All of McMann goals came in the span of 2 games

Reaves, Kampf and Lorentz has 2 goals combined in 25+games

That's 50+ games and we have 5 goals

Just not good enough

Seems like we're stuck with this until the TDL. My hope is we can pony up for Brock Nelson and pair Matthews/Domi together instead of having Mitch up there

Knies - Matthews - Domi
Patches - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Nelson - Marner

Suddenly fixes our depth scoring issues

The Bruins are not a good team? Says who.

I recall reading this a lot last season as well. Regarding the Bruins, Leaf fans thinking this.

That's interesting.
It's because they're objectively not very good, we just stunk last year as well

The winner of BOS/TOR was always going to get dummied by Florida in R2

Please move Robertson up to the second line play him on on the left wing and see what he can do.
Yup, give him some offensive chances on one of the top two lines and see if the results are favourable, guys not going to excel with bottom six deployment. If he lights it up you can keep him in the top six or trade him at a higher value than today……..

Don't the Leafs usually win when their star players are out?
Makes one wonder why have star players if the team wins without them………

I think the troops rally without Matthews, but I also think Pastrnak is going to have a hell of a game. He’s a Leaf killer with extra motivation and he gets up for things like this.

First game in memory for me where I just don't care that much. Like debating if I even want to bother watching. I've watched every game I could outside of major events in my life preventing me since I was 14. A lot of seasons thats 81/82, even in bad years.

I know our record against good teams and with Matthews out of the lineup, so I expect them to get a win with everyone counting them out. But meh. I've just seen this script so much I just want to see what they do in April.

Who knows what they’ll do tonight. One thing I liked about the Berube hire was the idea that they would bring it on a more regular basis.
Unfortunately that’s not what happened.

That was indeed the dream. I guess it was unrealistic to think that a new coach would suddenly turn a bunch of cupcakes into something other than a bunch of cupcakes.

McMann, Robertson and Holmberg have four goals combined, not three.
Lorentz has the other two.

Yes, it's nowhere near enough, that much is for sure... horrendous even.

That's interesting.

It's Boston, and they have our number... but they aren't playing well at all this year.

Only putting up 2.62 goals a game, while having 3.23 scored against them.

Now, they've won two in a row... but only against Seattle and Philly, both of who are really struggling... game before that they lost 8-2 to Carolina.

It's early, and the Leafs can't afford to take anyone for granted, but it is true that Boston has struggled pretty badly at times this year.
