We don't beat boston anymore, I don't see us winning today. I think we lose today and then win the next 3

well here it comes, as long as he comes back and plays like he should this could be a reset for him.
Can't see us beating the Sens at all.

Boston is an excellent team that has achieved more than we have (as recently as last season) and nothing has changed in that regard. Except some Leaf fan's opinion of the Bruins team. Some leaf fans anyway.
An excellent team huh? Living in the past isn't particularly productive. They haven't been an excellent team this year.

That likely doesn't stop them from beating us... we aren't very good right now either.

From the Boston game thread.... an accurate description of both teams..

Two flawed teams, both stumbling and trying to find their feet in the early stretches of the season. Both probably surprised that previous cornerstones of the franchise - defense for one, offense for the other - have suddenly been difficult to re-establish.

Nope but they are coming off of back to back shut outs.

I think the troops rally without Matthews, but I also think Pastrnak is going to have a hell of a game. He’s a Leaf killer with extra motivation and he gets up for things like this.
I think your right about Pasta, it’s going to be ugly. I’m not wasting any time watching this team fall to the Bruins once again………..

It's 13 games into the season. The poster I was responding too said they were not a good team. This year and last year. I just disagreed with that is all.

That was indeed the dream. I guess it was unrealistic to think that a new coach would suddenly turn a bunch of cupcakes into something other than a bunch of cupcakes.
Feel sorry for Chief, he’s not had the pleasure of catering to a bunch of diva thus far in his coaching career………

Summarizing our team.... A team where the depth isn't scoring, dependent on top six, with one of only four players scoring in the top six, out for the night. Of all the nights we've played, this is a game our depth absolutely has to show up and do something useful.

Boston has 30 goals scored against us in the last 10, we've scored 17. Only one of those games have we scored more than two goals. We have three wins, seven losses.

Team struggling to score goals this season, missing their *best* scorer, playing the team they've traditionally had problems scoring goals against.

Hard to make a prediction that this is our night.

It's Boston, and they have our number... but they aren't playing well at all this year.

Only putting up 2.62 goals a game, while having 3.23 scored against them.

Now, they've won two in a row... but only against Seattle and Philly, both of who are really struggling... game before that they lost 8-2 to Carolina.

It's early, and the Leafs can't afford to take anyone for granted, but it is true that Boston has struggled pretty badly at times this year.
They play hard hockey, that’s the Leafs kryptonite……….

This would have been a good opportunity to move Nylander back to the middle between Knies and Marner.
Domi and Marner seems like a terrible combination.
Hopefully Marner and Domi figure it out but yeah Nylander in a pinch at C for now would of been nice to see.

could be a boring ugly lack of scoring game, or the Leafs blow out the Bruins 7-1 and it gets overly chippy in the 3rd.

Yep, hopefully.
Glad I'm on my couch for this one, hopefully Matthews is back by Friday.

The few times Domi and Mitch played together they actually did pretty well I think.

Vegas has the over under at 6 goals.... Strange.. they also have us winning. Boston has 7 goals in the last four games, and we can't score against them at all.

I think they’ll come out strong as a team. Matthews missing the game gives me some Game 5 and 6 feel bad vibes but I could see the adversity forcing out everyone’s A Game.

Bruins are as vulnerable as ever. They did have back-to-back shutouts but overall they are weak. I think it’s time to put the hurt on the Bruins.

Yeah, they have historically played really well when the star players are out of the lineup. I wouldn't be surprised if they play a solid shut down game tonight and grind out a low-scoring win. Maybe it will help that so few people will be paying attention to this game tonight because of the US election.
The election is today? Won’t have the slightest impact on who watches the game tonight.

FWIW Leafs are often heavy betting favourites on moneyline and end up losing. For example against the Blues on Saturday they were -200 favourite. Against CBJ even worse I think it was like -250 or something along those lines

Perhaps he thought this was an opportunity to win the cup, and now he sees it as an opportunity for personal growth? ;)
