I have a feeling the Bruins are going to be okay...

This retool is going to take at least two years. I wouldn’t go sign free agents to big contracts. They need another subpar season and get another high pick. The year got out of hand for many reasons as we know. Injuries, coaches, and players sucking derailed them.

Picks are 18 when selected. Unless the guy is a very special player, he takes several years to develop into an effective nhl contributor. IMO two years should stretch into 5 to 7. The Bruins don’t have an elite core and need to build one up again. They have Pasta and McAvoy.

I made a thread in the off season prior to last season that had to be locked because of how combustible it became with Bruins fans where I suggested that they had the bleakest future in the league on account of a bottom 3 prospect pool and not a single player under the age of 25 who looked like anything resembling a star player. As such, I suggested they cash in their chips and get kings ransoms for Pasta and Mcavoy rather than having 10 years of darkness just to cram in a few extra 1st round exits.

I know the "burn it to the ground and trade everything for picks and prospects" the way we do in EA NHL isn't always the best course of action but seems like the correct call in this case.

In my thread, Bruins fans insisted that because people have incorrectly predicted their downfall before, they therefore were immune to the current reality that we all saw coming eventually. They are in for a dark future IMO if they don't get a bunch of A+ prospects and 1st round picks for their 2 big dogs.

No chance they striping down. Too many teams struggle to recover when it’s not needed.

Potential is there to end up bottom 5 next year if McAvoy and Lindholm's health go sideways, which is a real possibility and if they stay away from going in to FA
beyond bringing back Marchand.

How hilarious would it be to give Marchand $6M on a one year and have him traded for another #1 from a SC contender if they go sideways again. Win the McKenna lottery and resign Marchand to mentor him...lol.

Just stop will you. They aren't getting a "King's Ransom" from any real contender. No contender is doing that. Further both have NMC or NTC and they aren't waiving to go to Carolina or LAK. They will take their chances with Boston, so just stop.

I remember people were talking about Pastrnak for Hart.

Did he quit on the team?
Pasta is fabulous. But he’s the only elite guy on that current roster. The Bruins need to rebuild. Imo a retool won’t work for them, considering their lack of young elite players.

Does Pastrnak stick around for a rebuild or would they make him available?

The team quit on him and sold at the deadline.

He’s got almost double the points of the second leading scorer currently on the team. 89 vs 45.

He’s turned Morgan Geekie into a 25+ goal scorer.

He’s going to need back surgery after the season for carrying these bums along this year.

What a horrendous season by everyone else in this organization.

Likely a superstar player would want to move on to a contender. The assets coming back (picks and prospects) would help speed up the rebuild. IMO any club rebuilding needs to stay drafting as high as possible until they have built their core. Swayman is good and will help ease the pain of losing by keeping the score (in most games) respectable. McAvoy is young. Build around those two.

I'm assuming the B's just have fans on here that hate them and want to see them burn.

The fact they dipped this fast to get a high draft pick is impressive as hell on its own.

They starts with McAvoy, swayman and pasta.

I just don't see a full scorched earth rebuild because it all went to hell in the second half of one season.

I'm seeing a purposeful season tank and retool.

Step into a GM job inheriting a gaggle of Hall of Fame and near Hall of Fame players in their prime to build around. Your first draft you have back to back to back first round picks.

A decade later you haven't won a Cup. Your team has been trash in the playoffs aside from one season and some series against Toronto. You have multiple horrible long-term contracts you've handed out. Your prospect pool of good offensive talent is close to nil. Your current roster is about as bad as can be for an NHL team, as evidenced by the current 10-game losing streak.

Tell me why you deserve to stay on the job and do a retool/rebuild.

Bruins doing it right.

Getting stuck in mediocrity land like the Red Wings is brutal .. and hard to get out of once youre in the mud

It remains to be seen which way they go. They still have guys like lindholm, macavoy, pastarnak and a freshly signed swayman. They could decide that they build around that.

My guess is they probably will build around those guys.
