Post-Game Talk: Hutson and Suzuki lead Habs in comeback win vs Flyers

All I read is Suzuki this and Hutson that but when will Gallagher get the respect he deserves?

Lots of people on these boards owe this guy an apology.
Gallagher is playing like a top notch bottom sixer.

But he remains a bottom sixer who is overpaid at 6.5M AAV - after being underpaid on his last contract. I think fans judged his previous few years fairly based on his play. And I think they're doing a good job of appreciating his play in a bottom six role, despite the contract.

What is this apology business? What does this even mean? I keep seeing this.

His recent hot streak is great, 11pts in 10gp since March 18. Overall, he's going to finish with about 39pts this season and everyone is very happy to see him pot 20 goals despite him looking out of shape and behind the play as often as he did this season. He shows that the old dog still has some bite -- he's going to score a big goal or two in the playoffs.

This is a huuuuuuuuuuge improvement: the player has done better this year than he had done in the previous years. He was -24 and had 31pts all of last season -- did he owe fans an apology then? He started this season with 2pts in 8gp (2pts in one game, 0pts in the other 7 games) -- were the fans owed an apology?? He had 1pt in 9gp between Nov 26 and Dec 12. He had 9pts in 33gp between Dec 23 and March 15, with long pointless droughts for a brutally bad 22pt/season pace
  • He had 1pt in 12gp between Dec 23 and Jan 18
  • He had 2pts in 9gp between Jan 21 and Feb 8
  • He had 0pts in 8gp between Feb 25 and March 15
This talk of fan apologies is so nauseating. It precludes the possibility of being normal.

Not gonna lie, that shit was f***ing adorable.

Don't get me wrong though, he's still an itty bitty tiny little momma's boy to me. View attachment 1007383
It's funny how much the way I perceive him has shifted throughout the year. And I don't mean as a hockey player (that too obviously, couldn't predict such a quick adaptation to the pros. It's insane), but as a guy.

Used to see this really small dude who looks nice. Now I see this still really small dude and still nice, but with supreme confidence in himself, even though he doesn't need to show it in an exuberant way. And I see a multi millionaire. It won't be long for a huge amount of wealth to be tied to his name.

I didn’t think he’d be able to play effective defense in the NHL in spite of doing it in the NCAA and world juniors. We’ll see how he does in physical playoff series where opposing D are wearing down habs forwards and Hutson does well on goals for and against but doesn’t wear anybody down.
I used to think it would be an issue as well, but seeing him defend so well down the stretch and win so many battles defensively has got me convinced that he will be just fine in the playoffs. It's possible he will get burned once or twice, as he has at various points in the season, but he will learn from it and I don't think he will fade come playoff time.

Part of the reason for that is how hard he is to hit. He is really elusive and manages to roll off checks. I had noticed Kucherov had that skill when we went to the finals against them. Can't hit the guy.

Hard to prevent them from controlling the game if you can't check them.

Doubt it Habs are probably boarding the plane now.

I don't expect him back til Tuesday against Detroit. I don't expect he's traveling with the team to Nashville.

Hopefully all is well with baby & mom.

On the plus side, one unintended consequence is no hockey will give him a few days for his ailing injuries to recover a bit.

Hopefully all is well indeed.

I’m not worried about his personal play, but in the sixth and seventh games opposing forwards may be less beat up than the habs forwards. A lot of playoff wins are about being willing to give and take more abuse after a long series against the same guys.

Wow I can't believe how well they're doing. I don't think anyone saw this coming in december when we were in last place in the east.

Suzuki, Hutson have been amazing.

That’s the difference a game breaker like Hutson can do, he’s been lights out since that time and the team has jumped a level. As good as Suzuki has been, and he’s been amazing, I truly believe it’s Hutson’s ability to read the ice and break people’s ankles that has made the team and Suzuki better. He opens up so much space it makes everyone else better.

What’s crazy is that next season we’ll have the forward version of him joining us.

Gotta give it to Montembeault too, he gave good goaltending today. Didn't make us sink.
He was lights out, with less than 10 minutes left, the flyers went from having no shots in the first 10 minutes of the 3rd to having 8-9 shots in a hurry..........a couple of big saves on the PP and net empty.

The Captain, what can we say.............amazing. Hutson.........just wow what a goal.
The boys are rolling...........great to see.

The guy that should have gotten a star and was the catalyst is Gally. Man, this guy is just relentless. And he had his legs of old. In person, you can see the Sherwoods he gets in front of the net. He’s just 100% all heart and nerves.
My wife started watching hockey with me three months ago, and every single game, she mentions Gallagher without fail. She is always amazed how he can take such a beating and not be injured. I tell her that my "member" is the same way, and that usually ends the conversation. Sigh.

Just seems like Suzuki and Hutson step down on the gas a little bit more when it’s needed.
Both have always been like that. Hutson always took over when Boston U was losing and needed a goal, I literally watched every game that season and I can tell you it was never Celebrini that dictated pace it was Hutson, always. Kid always refuses to lose.

And Suzuki has always been this way since his OHL days, there is a reason they made him captain from such a young age and Weber thinks so highly of him. The challenge by Hughes was the perfect way to handle Suzuki.

Suzuki and Hutson worship aside, I was happy to see Gally continue to turn it on and Dvo and Evans have solid games. TBH, everyone played pretty well… even Pez.
It's amazing what pending free agency did for Dvorak. I am only speculating when I say that there might not have been much demand for his services at the TDL, and he decided to do something about it.

Didn't see Michkov last night, but the boxscore say he was a -2 so he must have played??

The only way you haven't seen him is if you didn't watch the game at all or you are blind and deaf loll

They must of called/showed him at least 20 times during the game minimum throughout.

She's not interested in history?
