Boston is last in the East

Boston will be so interesting to follow this offseason

I think they have two wise options here

Option one, they have two elite assets that are in their prime and they can skip a rebuild but only if...they're able to flip the pick into a Konecny like talent and then sign a top 6 center like Duchene as UFA

If they can't flip the pick for a top asset go for option two, use the pick and put Pasta and Mcavoy on the block, don't half ass it

Go all in or all out

Anything else and they're stuck in a loop that some teams can't get out from

I just wanna highlight how badly they f***ed up their goalie game- had 2 great starters. Traded 1 to a rival for too little, now they playoff-bound. Argued with the other so long that he held out, messing with the whole start of the season and the goalie’s mentals. Oh, and now it looks like you overpaid either because he ain’t that good or y’all rattled him, nice work.

Their ownership never deserved their success, but anyway- love to see it. I like Pasta and and Sway, 1) that should be a podcast 2) hope they both end up somewhere good.

My post was ment to be sarcastic, although I have predicted them for like a decade to not finish as high as they have(I generally put them as a wild card team or wild card contender due to them getting 1 year older). ;)
you were being sarcastic, but many aren't. Seems like many here don't cheer for their team.

Go look at the Oilers board.

Wikipedia has him listed as a C on the draft page. Elite prospects has him listed as LW/C

I was going of hockey-reference which just says LW.

This is why I just took the positions at face value… there are always a bunch of players who are listed at the wrong positions even in the NHL database, so it’s a major project to check them all for accuracy.

It’s a dangerous spot

The prospect pool is one of the worst in the league and they should spend this and the next season/offseason rebuilding the prospect pool with 2 top5/10 picks and lot of other picks and build with them + Pasta/McAVoy/Swayman

If I had to bet they’ll try a 1 offseason retool and try to fight for a playoff spot next season. It’s possible but it really puts a limit on the ceiling of the team moving forward. In fear of being good enough to compete for a playoff spot, not good enough to win 2-3 rounds
Depends on how carefully they spend the UFA money they now have.

Is they end up with someone like Misa or Hagens then their #1C problems are likely solved in 2-3 years.

They’ll still need another top W, but the depth scoring can be solved in UFA. Their D seems to be fine when healthy.

At least that’s how it looks on paper to me

They’d have to win a lottery spot in order to have any kind of chance with a 1 year retool

If they want to build what they had you kind just turn it around in 1 offseason. You need youth in the lineup, they have none of it coming up. You need to be able to drop in quality elc’s in order to be succesfull, they have none of them coming up

Even if they win the lottery this season as you say it’s going to take 2-3 years before they have the experience to play postseason games as a 1C and they’ll found no answers before that from the market

So draft as well as you can this offseason, don’t spend any big time money like last season and tie yourself to bad longterm contracts and draft again fairly high next season and spend whatever you can at 2026

They need to win the lottery to foolproof their pick, otherwise they will f*** it up somehow. Their best work is usually in the second round.

Such a well-run organization, honestly.

Seamlessly switch from contender to accumulating high-end talent.

Wish my flyers had such strong leadership and direction.

I'd definitely trade TK for Boston's first. Easily.

You actually listen to Edwards calls and he legit gots excited describing important goals by the oppisition. Compare I'm to that announcer for the Avs and he was light ears better than that guy.

YouTube has his 1986 NCAA Frozen Four Harvard vS Denver game.
Edwards was very good at calling a hockey game. He was an over the top Homer, but that never really bothered me.

Our Nemesis, Boston, had a solid 20 years run, because of solid front office for much of this time, but it had to happen at one point, no team can escape this, not even the Bruins

Now Bruins, do a quick rebuild like we did, and let's fight in the playoffs in 3 or 4 years

Montréal vs Boston is great for the sport, let's make it happen ASAP

It was smart of them to tank once they saw the team wasn't going anywhere, and their top 2 defensemen were out long term.

They're going to get the draft pick that should have been Buffalo's but for their late season surge.

I've seen the Sens surge late in a season several times once out of the race, and it's infuriating, but pro athletes are proud, and try to win, so you can't blame the players. I remember the optimism for the next season, but all 3-4 times after a late-season surge, the Sens missed the playoffs the next year.

Well done Boston. Enjoy Misa, Hagens, Martone, whoever they get.

Swayman will come back - 1G
Pasta is amazing- 1W
Zacha is a great complimentary player - 2C
The entire D is pretty darn good

This is a retool. They need 2 good forwards. Ideally a 1C to push Zacha to 2C and a top 6 winger.
"All they need is a 1c" is not the retool you're describing lol
