Boston is last in the East

It drives me crazy when I see these posts about how I am supposed to feel sorry for the Bruins, Pens or a couple of years ago, the Avs.
The Bruins will be back in a couple of years and people will talk about the black hole that the Bruins were in in 2025. Give me a break. Try being a Jackets fan with 1 series win in 25 years and that win was a miracle.
'Round here we call your fellas The Who Jackets. Who??

I'm just kiddin you. If your team made the playoffs I'd be pulling for them over the rest of these scurvy, unsavory teams.

They obv sold at the deadline and are tanking but have some good pieces.

Throw 15m aav at marner for any easy fix IMO.

If they cant get marner gets a little more dicey. Depends who they can bring in.

With the injuries to Lindholm and McAvoy, they're stuck running a first pairing of Zadorov - Jokijarju, none of which should be above #4 on a depth chart (and, ideally, #5) on a depth chart, and giving 20 minutes to Mason Lohrei, who at most should be a 15 minutes guy with some PP duties.

Of course they'll suck.

They've been missing their top pairing most of the season. They traded 5 NHL regulars at the deadline. A masterful emergency tank job by the Sweenmeister. I would still fire his ass and the coach and everybody else too. This guy got to let Cassidy and Montgomery go, he's been there 10 years. Would be ridiculous for him to get yet another coach.

Swayman will come back - 1G
Pasta is amazing- 1W
Zacha is a great complimentary player - 2C
The entire D is pretty darn good

This is a retool. They need 2 good forwards. Ideally a 1C to push Zacha to 2C and a top 6 winger.
Just nobody from Vancouver. That shit worked in the 80s to get Neely but not today

This is genuinely one of the worst 2 year swings in nhl history.

From record breaking season to dead last in the conference. I knew they were trending down, but man..

Couple of crazy things.

It’s been only two years since they won a record 65 games and finished with 135 points. They still managed 47 wins and 109 points just last season.

It will be just the 8th time they’ve missed the playoffs in the last 58 years.

Likely won’t be down for long. They know how to retool fast.

Surely Neely and Sweeney don't see Sacco as the solution for next season or else God help us!

Swayman of course is getting found out doesn't help and the Lindholm and Zadorov contracts are awful.

I could see MacAvoy and Pasta wanting out if there isn't a quick turn around in two years.

Good thing Swayman “reset the goalie market”. Lol… what a terrible contract.

They should ask Pasta and Charlie if they’d waive to go to a contender. They’d get a kings ransom of picks and prospects, get some cap dump in return and get some high picks.

Neely / Sweeney need to go like yesterday though otherwise it’ll be for nothing.

Amazing tank job by Boston to go from a middling pick to a very likely top 5 pick (with a decent shot at a top 4 selection in what most consider a 4 person top tier). Clutch 0-10. Meanwhile Sabres turning on the jets at the end, watch as they get another pick in the teens despite being in the basement for much of this season.

World class tank, and it couldn't be more blatant.

Their prospect pool isn't good, but they took steps to address it at the trade deadline. A top four pick will get them a good player this year, and they have a high end #1 RW, #1 D, and #1 G locked into long term deals. I'm presuming that Swayman will be okay in a normal year with a real coach and a good defense in front of him. They have wasted money in Lindholm and Zadorov, but the cap is going up and they will have space. So all in all I don't think it's going to be a long rebuild. They won't compete for a cup next year, but they're a good draft pick or two and some smart free agent signings away from being back in the playoffs regularly (but every team could say that).

I just hope they hire a coach who won't quit on them.

If I'm sweeney I punt next year, hope for McKenna and save up all the cap space they can in the hope that McDavid reaches free agency, then back up the Brinks Truck.

Boston is now last in the East and 4th worst in the league.

The Tampa, Boston, Florida & Toronto streak of leading the Atlantic is now over.

Some people had them dropping out of the playoffs, but I don't think many had them falling this hard.

The Swayman contract is a problem if he doesn't bounce back.

Do they retool and hope Swayman returns to form?

Or do they go full rebuild?
I mean they traded off Carlo, Frederic, Brazeau, Marchand and Coyle with only Mittlestadt as a notable player coming back

While also missing McAvoy for like 30 games on the season and Lindholm for essentially the entire season.

They’ll likely try a Caps type retool rather than a full rebuild, but a ton of that is going to be contingent on Swayman finding his game

Predicting their downfall every season finally paid off.

In reality this isn't the crazy part, it's that they managed to hang on so long after losing Bergeron and Krejci.
They should sell Pasta and rebuild, but they probably won't.

As a Habs fan I am torn. I do not care if they are terrible in fact its kind of funny...BUT hockey and more specifically the playoffs are way more fun when both The Habs and Bruins are good. They have epic battles down the stretch and even bigger in the playoffs.

Plus with The Habs luck they will win both lotteries and end up with Schaefer and McKenna:help:
