I don't know if he has a history (I don't think he does?) But considering there was no call and Hamilton wasn't injured, he'll get no more than 1 in my opinion.

But he WILL and should be suspended. It would be a complete joke if it's not even going to get a review.

If he has no history, I think 1 game is fair. This is a perfect situation for the NHL to show that they are proactive in taking head shots out of the game. The arm was extended and Hamilton was in a vulnerable position. A head shot is a head shot is a head shot regardless of whether there is an injury or not. A suspension is warranted. In this case, a 1 gamer.

First time posting in a while.

The lockout will do that to ya.

Anyway, I think tonight the Bruins defense looked slow and were consequently out of position often against Buffalo's strong-skating forwards. It was the Bruins 3rd game in 4 days so that will happen.

I can't say that the Bruins deserved to win after playing so poorly defensively but the missed call on the elbow on Hamilton was pretty frustrating. The two referees seem to call all the little things and miss the legitimate attempt to injure.

Hopefully Bergeron will be fine....seemed to me like it might have been a separated shoulder.

I think I remember seeing someone post that Seguin was the 2nd most timid player he'd seen on the ice after Kessel. It's starting to seem that way to me too. He's getting his chances but it's clear that he needs to get more involved in the game if he wants to be a star in the league.

It had to happen. Scott was brought in largely because of the Bruins. Thornton and him have history without fighting yet. They were gonna go. Too bad Thornton couldn't grab hold of him like he did Boogaard back a few years. Thornton needs to fight really smart when fighting these monsters.

He usually does. He got in a bad spot against the glass and that was it.

Takes serious sack to do what he does night in and night out. Takes even more sack to take on a guy who's got 40 or 50 pounds on you, add a massive reach advantage.

The people who don't think he means anything to this team have a short memory. Finals turned around the second Thornton was re-inserted into the line up. He does more than fight for this team. Sabres probably have contests to see who can hit Scott w/ more tape balls in the locker room.

Anyone think it is time to call up Bobby Robins to clean the press box for a little while until needed? I would love to see him fulfill his dream.

:sarcasm:

only partially kidding...

Thornton jumped at Scott in attempt to grab his throwing shoulder, Thornton missed it. Scott took advantage of his insane reach. They can fight another 10 times and Scott wouldn't handle Thornton that cleanly again. Can't win every fight.

This had nothing to do with Scott and ALL to do with the Vanek Show. B's defense had Swiss cheese size holes tonight. Clean up play in their own end, back in business.

Hope Thornton is ok, guy is a heck of a teammate.

Anyone think that maybe Chara should have stepped up in the lockerroom and said Scott's mine instead of Sugar being the sacrificial lamb? It was just a gross size mismatch ....

That's the problem, Whammer. That's what Ruff wants, Chara or Lucic off the ice fighting a completely useless player. How would that have helped them tonight? They had a 2 goal lead for a blink of an eye. Then, MAYBE, you make that trade as a way of saying FU to Ruff.

You have to give props to Thornton for saying win or lose, it's my job, and jumping on the grenade.

nope.
Thornton fought em that big before, he lost. Could chara of picked a fight after the thornton fight? Could someone have retaliated after the Hamilton hit?

Now those are some valid questions.

Thorntons our fighter, he handled Boogaard and Scott is no Boogaard.

They beat us and beat us up. Who knows how long Thornton will be out if he's concussed and Bergy didn't look right when he came back. Bruins seemed to be going up and down that locker room walkway through the night and no response. Felt like the Savard hit all over again (obviously not in the severeness of the elbow) with the way the team didn't respond to Stafford's elbow. Put a target on him and Vanek next time.

It's amazing that Thornton does as well as he does against these monsters. He fought and lost, **** happens. Hopefully he's good to go next time.

It ain't his fault they gave up 7 goals tonight.

Scott beating up Thornton means more to the Sabres than it does to the Bruins. They played a bigger, harder game than they should have. I was hoping to see a follow up tilt or two in order to put them right back in their place. If not that, at least ramp up the physical game. To not do either, especially on home ice, is totally inexcusable IMO.

It wouldn't have helped at all, but atleast we'd still have Thornton and he wouldn't have taken that beating. I've said it for three years, it's unfair to ask him to go up against these giants of the world..and it came back to bite them on the ass. He's more then willing. He'd run through a wall for anyone, but it caught up to him.

Good points. This game turned bad for Boston because of that full 2 min 5 on 3. The fight was only bad for Thornton.
