I’m not sure we’d be giving up on everyone.

Charlie Coyle, Morgan Geekie, Trent Frederic, Korpisalo for sure. I’d entertain offers for Marchand when it’s closer to the deadline if we’re definitely out of it. I’d also listen on Pasta, but gotta bowl me over for that, regardless of how things are going.

In reality, I think we just need a new coach with a different system that benefits us better. No reason we couldn’t still be that 7th or 8th seed that nobody wants to play.

What does Boston need? Aside from everything.

Zacha/Coyle (not interested in E. Lindholm's contract) would make sense for Monteal as we need a 2C for the short term who's better than Evans.

Unfortunately a trade between Boston and Montreal isn't very likely.

Fire sale must mean everything you have sucks and I’ll give you multiple pieces of garbage for that struggling player cause you know he forgot how to play hockey and will never bounce back.

I would think Buffalo could back a wagon of prospects and picks up to the Bruins door if that's what the B's were looking for. I know the rumbling is that Adams wants a forward, but it would be kinda hard to ignore Brandon Carlo on that list and not think he'd be an excellent pick up.
Kulich. Done.

Keep Korpisalo and that new guy who fought last night. Everyone else is expendable.

A box of skate laces
Carlo is struggling but should have plenty of GMs interested because of recent past and lack of 2nd pairing RDs available.

Won't fetch a 1st but certainly has value.

Looking at their current situation, would they benefit from a Jeff Skinner for Trent Frederic swap? Are they missing top six scoring depth?

Scoring is Boston's biggest need but Frederic is younger, cheaper, brings more to the table, and has had similar production as Skinner the last season+. Bruins should aim higher if they are dealing Frederic.

I've said for two years that the Bruins would be wise to see the writing on the wall and trade in Pasta/Mcavoy/Marchand et al for elite young players/prospects/very high 1st rounders but Bruins fans insisted that because other fans have incorrectly predicted their downfall in the past they would therefore never decline. Total immunity from ever being bad.

You can't have a playoff bubble/1st round exit team and also a bottom 3 prospect pool and zero impactful U23 players. You're headed for the doldrums with that combo.

The haul they could bring in for Pasta + Mcavoy would set them up for a much brighter future than the one they are currently facing down. Both could return an elite A+ prospect, 1st round pick + add ons.

I can't really envision the Bruins having reached this point yet. Those off-season signings of Zadorov and Lindholm suggest they have no interest in taking a step back. Even if that's what's happening, it would be a sharp left turn to start a "fire sale." Maybe they move out a big piece or two that isn't working to shake up the locker room.

I presume McAvoy doing relatively well but not crushing it, otherwise he'd be off the table?

W Othmann [elc ready enuf now], first rounder Emery [well regarded D prospect], 2025 NYR 1st, Smith [playing well top 6 F], cap dump stopgaps Lindgren, Vesey

for

McAvoy

cap is ballpark to his 9.5

Bs get useful stuf + structural cap relief + youth
Rs get RD switch Fox to LD, pair
then KAM-Schneider
Jones - Mancini

until dealt, Trouba gets odd shift as reserve D to keep sharp, but is mostly 4RW
Kreider - Chytil/Carrick - Zib [til Gabe P is here]
bread - Tro - LaF
Cuylle - Brodz/Chytil - Kakko
Edstrom - Rempe - Trouba
