If you're not playing well enough to be an everyday player, you better get used to playing well coming in off of the suite. And if you can't do that... well... welcome to the AHL, kid
I think it's just not a good fit here. He needs playing time to work through his issues, but we have too many better options to give him that. He'll probably move on to a weaker team where he'll get more consistent minutes and do better there.

But it does kinda leave me scratching my head on why a few of our forwards get so much playing time to work through their issues when we also have better options there. I guess forward is a lower impact position, but still, the mismatch between how Bear has been treated and how Necas has been treated is jarring.
I do wonder how hed be playing if Covid hadnt forced him to sit for awhile not even working out.
Also a factor, I guess. He was playing pretty well to start the season. But still, as little as he's played, he should have had time to get back into a fitness rhythm.

On one hand, yup

On the other, 1st and 2nd line Martinook does say otherwise.

I'm starting to think Andersen maybe is a price thing. He's been out a long time. Too long. Could he be trying harder? Missing him thru round 2 if we managed to not shit ourselves is kind of unacceptable

You're really obsessing over this Andersen thing. He's injured. We all saw him get injured. He's got a history of being injured. There's nothing more to it.

Could be a case where we know what Necas brings if he pulls his head out of his ass and gets going so Rod wants to give him rope to do that. Where as Bear, as the new guy, doesn't have that familiarity to the coaches.

Necas is what he is at this point. A net negative on the team whose minutes absolutely must be sheltered against any opposing player who can score.

Or maybe it was genuinely the cap issues where they couldn't play a guy like Drury over him if they wanted to, but still, that leaves Stepan, and there is zero question that he's been better than Necas this season.

I guess there's the give him enough rope to hang himself strategy so he doesn't have room to gripe about usage in the contract negotiations...

Of course, time will tell, but Bear doesn't have the requisite speed or strength to be a high quality NHL Dman.

I'd take Chatfield any day over Bear.

btw (this was meant to be separate but system merged):
Can someone expound on the rumor (or dispel it) that TT is not a practice player nor happy with the Canes. That came out in last games blog.

Bear is a jack of all trades, master of none-type player. Brind'Amour and/or Gleason may want specialists on that 3rd pairing. Cole is a core PKer. Smith is a physical presence. van Riemsdyk, another generic defender, fell out of favor at the end, as well.

TT has never been the happy or smiling type.

Who knows but I wouldn't be surprised. The whole TT Aho Svech line isnt really the current thing.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL revises its rules about disclosing injuries this offseason.

If you are going to be in bed with Vegas with a team playing its home games on the Strip while hosting the ASG, you can't be secretive about which players are injured.

I do think that every up-and-coming team starts to question whether the guys they have are winners until they win. We are no different than Tampa in '19 or Washington in '18 or any number of other teams.

Excellent point.

If it really needs illustrating — the dynasty Oilers went through this and worse.

I don’t know how to feel about this game or series. I should be excited, but winning won’t be exciting, it’ll be a relief. Not being the underdog is a situation I’m still not comfortable with.
Same. But I think it's mostly the 2019 ECF that spoiled it for me. So whenever we don't get back there or better it's just disappointing even if we consistently make the playoffs now after consistently not ever making them.

If he was Symptomatic Thursday then the Time table makes no sense because he played on FRIDAY. but whatevs...
Few guys in the main board thread mentioning five days or two clean tests. So sick with something non-Covid and a false positive I’d guess.

But we handled them fine in 1 and 2 with him in. Plus honestly he hasn’t been that big a factor in the first 3 games frankly. Good but not out of this world good.

So here we are, on the precipice, the proverbial fork in the road. Are we going to get the games 1/2 Canes or the 3/4 Canes? It‘s really hard to break into that elite team status, I thought the canes made it when they won the game 7 against the craps, but couldn’t get past the bears and bolts. Make this the time, bury the ghosts of Boston once and for all, then revenge the bolts and shut up all the naysayers, especially those on the NHL Network and ESPN!
