What are you talking about? Canucks did address their goaltending. The intent was to roll Demko/Silovs, then they picked up Lankinen as a stop gap until Demko is ready - who has been skating and taking shots, so his return shouldn't be too long from now. Canucks' goaltending is set. They can't and aren't going to take on sizeable caphits, and they certainly aren't going to pay for it.

Camp’s almost over and NOTHING has changed, like the Canucks had hoped it would a month ago.. Do you know how quick they could be out of a playoff spot this year, and needing to go on a nice, long run? One you can only go on, when you have a goaltender playing lights out?

There’s teams who are going to be much, much better in the West, and they’re going into the season with an unproven, 23 year old goalie with consistent swelling in his knee, a journeyman who still didn’t have a contract a month ago, and their prized goalie still not sure when he’s gonna be ready to test an injury that we’re not sure any goalie’s ever played through.

Yea, they’re real comfortable with that right now.

Demko still has “no idea” when he’s going to try coming back, nor how it’s going to respond when he starts pushing it. He’s hopeful but he hasn’t pressed anything yet, and he’s been skating for awhile now. It’s still a complete unknown.

So you’re putting a whole lot of confidence in a 23 year old kid who had an .898 save % in those 10 playoff games. A goalie who’s NEVER had a consistent run in an NHL season. Who’s great moments in the playoffs, we’re matched by some not so great moments, and who’s knee likes to swell up randomly.

If you think Lankinen is “addressing” their goaltending, good luck to you. There’s a reason the man didn’t have a contract in September. He’s a “stop-gap” and nothing more.

Which was fine when they thought they had a time table on Thatcher.

Fact is, nobody knows now. If Demko, who I’ve watched long before he was ever an NHL Draft choice, has ever had an issue…. it’s that he doesn’t play with injuries well. One of the problems with this current injury is, its probably never gonna be right again. Never. That means he’s gonna have to learn to play with it. He’s admitting that now.

At this point, they have to go into the season thinking, if Demko comes back, great, but who knows when that’s gonna be, and how he’s gonna look when he decides he’s ready to push it. Nobody knows how it’ll effect his game, or if it’ll even hold up when he does push it.

They can be in big trouble 12-15 games into the season, and you’re gonna depend on Lankinen and Silovs with a team that gives up the scoring chances the Canucks do?

The Canucks are petrified right now, cause they have no idea how these two goalies are gonna perform.. Nobody does.

The Canucks goaltending is fine.

There's no timeline for Demko's return, but he's practicing. That's good news.

Silovs played well in the playoffs last year and has shown he's decent enough behind a solid structured defensive Tocchet system. I guess you haven't watched the Canucks in the last year or two as these aren't the Travis Green days where the strategy was to let other teams pepper Demko and hope for the best.

Lankinen is averaging 0.905 in the NHL as a backup (which is very reasonable), and is good value at his cap hit. I think it'll be a 1A/1B scenario with Silovs.

If you're being realistic, there's no way that the Canucks are going to pick up a bonafide starter at a high cap hit with Demko's imminent return (nor are there any reasonable targets in the league). If the Canucks management haven't "addressed" the issue, feel free to suggest some reasonable other things they could do. They've already addressed the concern with the Lankinen signing.

Canucks are petrified? Do you realize that they were aware of the situation before they acquired Lankinen, and that this is the route they chose to go? Did you not see the Canucks as they were one of the best teams defensively over the last half season, including when Demko was injured? Did you not see Silovs win a playoff series against the Preds, and then push the Oilers to 7 games?

It seems like you have no idea what you're talking about, and haven't watched the Canucks play in quite a while. They are a legit good team now, and will get by. You're acting like Demko is the only reason they win games, which is ridiculous.
