One narrative I have heard from Arniel and some of the players is the ability to reset after a game and focus on the next. They have done a good job of that for the wins so hopefully it is the same for a loss. Only one so far prior to last night so I am curious how the team bounce back.

To me it is those kinds of things that can separate a very good team from a great team
Things took a turn for the worse last year after the 3 goals or less streak was broken. They need to keep playing the same way they do 90% of the time no matter what transpires over the next couple games. Keep the “buy in” going as they say.

Tampa played a really tight physical game. They were targeting 55 and 44 a lot, 55 had 2 "interference" hits on him, puck was nowhere near. Eiesymott ran 44 pretty bad. But that's hockey, we're an elite team in games that are open and not to physical. In a grinding physical game we can't make plays.

Hard to argue with out record but let's see how we do in Florida. Fatigue definitely becomes a factor playing this much. I do like how we have 4 solid lines.

I'd almost like to see Perfetti slide into the 2C spot, possibly put iafallow or Nino on the wing, just for some size and I think Perfetti is better in the middle long term. Hate to tamper though.

How about Miller swapping with DeMelo?

Or... Elias Salmonsson with 44? He's been dominant in his last few AHL games.

yeah I'm not one to panic but we're never winning again...so probably time to trade Helly.
Who's trading for a goalie who couldn't even will his team to a win against the Lightning? Some people will come up with excuses like "we have won 15 games" and "he didn't even play yesterday," but are you really going to tell another GM that in trade negotiations?

We knew they were due for a loss, and the Jets conveniently got it out of the way before the two Florida games ;)

Tampa pressured the Jets all over the ice last night and I think you’ll see Florida try the same approach tomorrow night.
Helly in goal means we’re probably not on the wrong side of a 3-0 score early in the 2nd though.

I think breaking up Pionk and Samberg wouldn't be a good idea at this point. DeMelo had the 2nd best +/- in the league last year so we can hope that he returns to that level of play soon. If anything I would bring salo up, send stanley down, rotate fleury and salo in with miller and see what happens. if demelo starts to regress even more swap salo and him for the top spot and see how salo performs with JMO. But that will never happen. lol

You aren't going to see any major changes after one loss in 8 games.

I think you are right on about how Tampa played. They were physical and that's been something that's always been questioned about the Jets as a playoff team. Can they play that game? Tampa is a two time Cup winner, a few of those guys are left and the man behind the bench. It was a big game for them, losing 5 in a row would put them in that mediocre pack in their division. And you want to stay ahead of that or catch up if you are behind. So you might see some hungry teams as the season rolls on and Scottie's job now is to keep his team focused on staying ahead of the pack. Wild aren't that far behind.

I was thinking out loud but with injuries you never know. Heinola is back soon. We're pretty deep back there with some options, so that's good.

Heinola is skating now. And I wonder if he gets a game in with Miller. That would balance the Jets into a situation where they have one puck mover one stay at home on every pairing. The game yesterday turned on a dime with Miller's backhand turnover and maybe with an upgrade on the left side he's not the guy leading the rush.but keeping the puck in front of him. That's where I would look first. Salomonsson I think if he keeps playing though would get a look as an injury replacement. Having some depth to work with is nice because you don't have to trade assets. At some point the Jets are going to have to see what they have in Heinola. If they are potentially showcasing him as a trade chip wouldn't be surprised if he plays in the home game. Pittsburgh game for sure seems like a good one to get him in for.

Samberg relies heavily on Pionk for puck movement but he cleans up the defensive mistakes pretty well.

I've noticed the third pairing struggle to retrieve and cleanly move the puck in games where thr opposition really upps the pressure. I would also like to see Heinola get in at some point to see if he can help in that regard.

Quick and accurate puck movement is one of the key features of our system.

One loss and people are asking for a rookie to pair up with JMo and face the other teams best players!
The sky isn't falling people... relax.
Ya we are 15-2 , i think this roster has earned a little bump in the road without changing the personnel.

I don't think it was the loss that brought up this discussion.. it had more to do with the quality of DeMelo's play.
