Bold predictions for 2021-2022 season

I believe we trade him for picks and protect Derm,Holl, Brodie and Mo.
Like you said he is not aging well and has missed time in the last few playoffs.
If we trade him and Kerfoot is taken by Seattle we will have just over 20 mil for 10 players with Lily and Sandin up
 
The only good thing to happen at Scotiabank Arena has already occurred.

Toronto beats out Montreal on the last day of the season and Nick Robertson finished 3rd in the rookie of the year voting
 
The rebuild is complete.

It failed.

This core was the chance to win it all, but it's over now.

Worst case scenario has come true.

In due time Matthews, Marner and Nylander will all be gone. None of them are sticking around here.



And then it starts all over again.

Such is life in Toronto.

I'm 50/50 on us making the playoffs next year.

I really think after next year we will see how overrated the core 4 are.

Their legacies as leafs will be on the line and I expect nothing but coming up short from those 4.
 
Matthew's insists on mustache maintenance games off...Dubas agrees. Marner asks for a contract renegotiation where he gets more money based off of 'potential of being due for a good playoffs for a change. Sits out 30 games until Dubas caves. Tavares comes back with two legs but looking like he's skating on one. Dubas fills out 4th line with ex-NBA players and trades for a female goalie so he can brag about being the most woke GM in the NHL

They're 1 win away from the Stanley Cup Final.
They've had more success in the past few weeks than the Leafs have had since 2002.
With 1 more win they've had more success than the Leafs have had since 1967.

You can bet they'll be a better team next season.
They'll likely add an impact player or two as well, as players will want to play there.

The reply I had was about a question someone said MTL will be better than TOR next year and finish ahead of them in the standings. MTL has had a little run here during the playoffs where it's basically a rodeo each night and their D core is geared to playing playoff hockey when the rule book is thrown out. Regular season hockey is not played like that and it showed as MTL had about 6-7 late goals in regulation to get to OT and gain a point. Add TB, BOS, FLA back in the division so with TO finishing 18 points ahead of MTL not sure where they fall plus OTT was only a few points behind them in the standings.

In the old playoff system MTL would have lost out on their playoff spot as the Rangers would have beat them for the last spot. last ye year they got in cause Betteman wanted the Blackhawks in the playoffs and rigged up that stupid play in games with a 12 seed.

Next year MTL has 10 million in cap space with only 7 forwards signed. Lekonen, Armia, Danault, Tatar, Perry are UFA, KK is an RFA this summer. 10 million won't go that far to resign a few of those players and to even think of adding an impact player or 2 is ridiculous plus needing money the year after to sign Suzuki who will be an RFA. Oh don't forget Drouin who will go back on the cap at 5.5 million so take that off the 10 mil leaves you about 4.5 or so. How do you fit in 5 forwards into that number when you factor in KK will get most of that as an RFA.

Besides Toffoli name a impact player that has come to MTL people don't want to deal with the french media

shanahan loses his shit and in a fit of anger brings back babcock with Torts as an assistant to F with the players because he knows he is gone following season and wants to make the players' lives hell. same players that screwed him now he is gonna screw with them

ironically babcock leads the team to 1st cup in gazillion years :laugh:
