Rangers are a team that is in win now mode, they are not rebuilding and can't waste what talent they have, thus the reason they took Miller.

Lafreniere has 33 points in 60 games and is a -17, he is having a big down year relative to last, and his body of work is not showing a player who is going to be a 100 pt player so he is now a risk that maybe he's never that player and is more like a 45-50 pt guy. He's been in the league 5 years now, only once over 50 pts. But he's worth that risk imho

The Rangers are also on the cusp of a playoff birth
Boeser is a 40 goal player on Miller's wing, NYR are a pretty fast team and Boeser will have lots of players who can set him up on the PP, he will be VERY successful there
Rangers are not scoring enough - they are a GF/GA differential of zero right now
Rangers are always in win now mode given their market

Boeser with an extension in Place should get Laff....

Yeah idk why NY would ever do that. Laf is the perfect 2nd line winger now that they have Miller. No way NY deals a player that is physical and can skate and score, for a player that can just score. It would be a massive downgrade in every way for them

EP40 is pretty clearly having one of the most disappointing seasons in the NHL this season. But Lafreniere isn't that far behind him.

I have no idea what happened to him this year--but his play has cratered. At one time, I thought he was a guy the Canucks should have targeted in the Miller deal. But now I'm thinking they got a better player in Chytil.

Lafreniere is set to earn 7.45m next season in the first year of an eight year contract.

If the Canuck acquired him, they'd have over $19m tied up in two guys--EP40 and Lafreniere-- for almost the next decade. At this juncture, they'd be two of the worst value contracts in the entire NHL.

What's next? Bringing Louie Eriksson out of retirement and re-naming it the 'Cap Crunch Line'?

I think at the time LAF signed his deal there was perception among the majority of Rangers fans that the contract was a steal for the Rangers. There were also questions over why LAF didn't bet on himself since if he took another step forward this season in development he would command a lot more. But here we are.

I think this is where pro scouting comes in. If last season was a one off then ya terrible contract. If he returns to the player he was last year his contract is fine and you get a young player in his prime.

If you want a cup, this is a real roll for the win. LF and EP might fizzle and die. But they both might realize their potential in their prime. I believe 24 and26. So many of you want to go all in? Well I would do Boeser+ to. Get LF and see what happens.
