So back to Stauffer.....anybody who rips on this guy for lobbing softballs at Oilers brass and not ripping the team more have NEVER had an arrogant boss with absolute power. Say what you will, but never forget that you are complaining that he somehow refuses to slit his own throat. That is all.

Not only that, but the reason he has any info at all is because of those connections. If he didn't suck up a bit then he wouldn't have those connections and he wouldn't have info or good guests. So he would basically be like anyone else.

He's also not a complete suck up. He will criticize players and coaching.

I'm not the best critic though. I generally try to look at the bright side of things (which might explain my vcash poverty), and yes there is a bright side that is equally valid to the negative side.

As long as he, the radio station or the oilers are not presenting him as a 'media' guy I have no problem with this line of thinking. The moment he is looked at as media it is a problem.

I'd have to laugh if I heard what he says about the team to other teams as a guest. We often hear our media guys talking to some colour commentator of other teams to get the low down on that team and players. I wonder if those reports are as hilariously biased and inaccurate as I imagine Bobs would be when talking to other teams media outlets.

I have always heard him say the start of the rebuild was the collapse under Quinn and the Hall draft.

I only started listening to him in the past few years though.

Beerfish's ridiculous exaggeration about Rush talk on Gregor's show aside, almost unlimited Oilers/NHL talk is what you're going to get no matter which Edmonton station or host you tune into. Even though I prefer more variety, I'm not dopey enough to expect it.
