OK that was a fun watch.

Kahkonen looked to have a hole in his blocker the size of the Grand Canyon last night. Fell bad for the guy.

Binner is back, with the help of his D letting him clearly see the puck more often than not. Glove looks active and good, not getting tested too much to the blocker side.

D activating was nice to see last night.

Tonight: we need to beat on minny again, it'll be tougher, they'll not want to be embarrassed again.

I missed the Thomas injury. How bad was it?

NVM. Found it.

Damn what a shame that is.

2 wins to get to a point back now makes us "not sellers." Are we buyers, though? Do we let this team run as-is, upgrade around the edges, see what it does? And how much do we pay if a lot of pieces are untouchable?

I'd be OK if we flip Hoffman for whatever, then use those assets to try and get something for this roster. Preferably the defense. Ideally a "hockey move" but I don't know if anyone is going to be interested in doing that. But when we start going down what we have and saying "nope, we can't trade that" what's left is a lot of dreck no one else wants either - and despite longstanding HF trade theory, a bunch of dreck doesn't get you high-quality guys.

I would NOT go after Hall. I don't see throwing him into this roster and trying to find a fit for him being a good idea. In the offseason? Fine, go for it then. You have time to think out the roster and plan it out better.

I don't think anyone would suggest we're 9-1 better than Minnesota. How much better are we than Minnesota, though? Good enough to go say 4-1-1 in the remaining 6? Good enough to ride that to some other wins and think Arizona tails off and Los Angeles and San Jose wash each other out? We're in a really delicate spot, and we could go "right tweak, much better going into the postseason" or "wrong tweak, crashing back out of the postseason" pretty easily. I think we do something beyond moving Hoffman, and we'll spend the entire summer discussing it - good or bad.

The thing is, Hall was at one point the MVP of the league not that long ago. He hasn’t been on a good team pretty much ever. What if, and it’s a big if, he is the elite offensive talent that we’ve been missing? He could be the best bargain buy in the history of the TDL. There’s a reason Army has been after him since we traded Shattenkirk, and he would have been right then — he was MVP shortly after.

I agree with the statements above about Hall. Every team he’s played for, he’s been expected to be at worst the number 2 guy(Eichel this year) on the team.

With ROR, Vladi, Perron, Schwartz, and Schenn here, he’d have less pressure to be THE guy running the offense. Plus, I would assume going from a dumpster fire to a playoff race would boost his confidence on the ice.
