He captained the team to a Stanley Cup in the same season they were last. I think you'd agree that matters more than being last at an arbitrary point in the season.

He didn't touch a stick after the season was postponed due to a deadly pandemic that had basically the entire country on lockdown. Even if he picked up a stick and used a stickhandling ball in that time what do you think that would accomplish? Do the Blues suddenly not get outskated in the bubble? Does he single handedly stickhandle the Blues to a series win against the Canucks?

You're gonna have to show me where anyone has called Pietrangelo generational, because I'm pretty sure it has not happened. People talk about him like a franchise defenseman because that's what he has been his whole career. This iteration of the Blues was built around him. His contract and contract demands reflected that and he got that because that's how the league sees him.

Kind of shows how weak he is. MacMac was in a terrible position and was strong enough to turn it around and take down creampuff. Petro is lucky he hasn't had to play against Benn this year.
