Here's my bold prediction for the series: We will get the Tarasenko we all know and love again!

Every time we played the Hawks in the playoffs, he was on Kane's level. Getting his old self back would be huge.

Tampa went pretty far without Stamkos so hopefully this team plays with urgency every game and gets stellar goaltending and a few lucky bounces.

*Blink*

I mean sure... Let's compare our offense to arguably one of the top offensive teams out there... Let's pretend Perron isn't significantly more important to us than Stamkos is to Tampa

STL top producers in 2019-20
ROR 61pts
Perron 60pts
Schenn 58pts
Schwartz 57pts
Pietrangelo 52pts
Thomas 42pts
Sanford 30 pts

TBL top producers in 2019-20
Kucherov 85
Stamkos 66
Point 64
Hedman 55
Killorn 49
Cirrelli 44
Palat 41
Sergachev 34
Shattenkirk 34
Johnson 31
Gourde 30

We don't have the firepower to weather losing a top scorer the way Tampa does. Tampa had 11 players score 30 or more points last year to our 7. And that 7 includes Sanford, who can go from looking like a decent 1st line winger to a barely passable 3rd liner from one game to the next.

If Perron is out for more than 2 games for us on Protocols, we need Winnington to carry us like he did down the 2019 stretch because we're going to struggle to consistently score 3 goals a game to give ourselves a fighting chance against the Avs offence.

Dude, I was just trying to be optimistic. Why does everyone take everything everyone says so literally and proceed to dissect it with statistics...:thumbd:

I’d sure like to see a more physical, tight checking game with DP57 out of the lineup. Go out there and try to forecheck, cycle and defend your way to a 2-1 win and see what Wednesday brings.

There are a few minutes left, but early thoughts:

-Parayko isn’t as effective as his usual. We’ve seen this all year.
- Binnington sure came ready to battle. It was the highlight of the game. Really this game should have been a blow-out if not for him.
- MacKinnon is awesome and fun to watch. Wish he wasn’t the opponent.
- The Blues sure miss Perron. And Sundqvist. And surprisingly, Dunn.
- Tarasenko will be a worthwhile player again, but there are no shortcuts to getting back to a competitive level. He’s improved over the time he’s been back, but he’s not there yet.

91 need to be benched or have his minutes sheltered

rest of the team just needs to give a lil more

I thought Binny, Barbie and Hoffman were great tonight

Krug was terrible. Need more from Faulk & ROR too.

schwartz and schenn are still ghosts

Joey Vitale in the radio post game show said it best, the Blues might have wasted some of Binnington's best periods in this series. Hopefully on Wednesday can bring us back home even.

Also I think had Tarasenko been a regular in the lineup to end the season instead of being out with whatever injury, he would have been dialed in to have a goal on one his chances in that first period. I was excited to see him in on those, but sadly he disappeared the rest of the game.

Tarasenko has the velocity on his shot but no the accuracy. IMO accuracy be damned that f***er needs to start ripping them every chance he gets and stop taking so long to actually shoot. If you're not gonna shoot then put someone else on the PP that will.

Bobby Bortz doesnt have the wheels to play in this series. Really wish Dunn or Walman where available.

Honestly I am more concerned with Robert Thomas. The guy has fallen off a cliff and has looked horrendous at center.

Agreed with this post 100%.

The good news is I think Dunn may be expected back for game 2.

The bad news is I think Thomas looks to be regressing. He will make a nice pass every so often and people lose their minds over it, but this guy coughs up the puck multiple times a game if someone even breathes in his direction. To me he’s been a huge disappointment 90% of the season. And I’m very concerned he’s making zero progress on defense or strength on pucks. Dude makes Hoffman and Kyrou look super physical. He might be the softest player in the league, no exaggeration. I get that he’s young but I don’t understand how people can watch him play and still hype him up as much as they do.

The biggest issue I have with Thomas right now is he seems to have no motor. I get that he's not a physical player, so it is unrealistic to expect him to engage physically to an extent. He looks like he's still trying to play the way he played in junior hockey where he had the time and space to let the game come to him.

The thing is, he has good wheels but rarely uses them. If he went all out for 30-40 seconds a shift and actually tried to make something happen instead of coasting in (or into) the offensive zone and waiting for an opening I think we'd see better results. He needs to understand that there are very few players in this league that have the talent to get results while waiting to pick their spots and he's not one of them. He is one of the other 99.9% that need to MAKE something happen. Frankly, I still feel like he has more raw talent than Kyrou and if he played as hard as Kyrou plays (mistakes and all) we'd all be singing his praises right now. We need THAT Thomas in this series, I just hope he exists.

Thomas has been a disappointment this year, but he was pretty good last night. He made a nice defensive play and then skated the puck through the neutral zone to create the 3 on 2 for our only goal. He got a secondary assist and his contribution got overshadowed by Barbie's nice pass and Kyrou's finish. But his contribution to that goal was no less important. He was also one of the only forwards who wasn't completely caved in by expected goals or high danger chances. He wasn't incredible, but he was easily in the top half of our forward performances last night.
