great win, scheifele is playing great to start the season just a matter of time before connor gets going again and once we get ehlers back it will be a huge boost. 3-3 may not sound great but we played some really good teams including 4 games in 6 nights with out our coach for 5 of them

I don't want to go too crazy, but the team that played tonight is the best I think the Jets have looked in a few years. They didn't need to rely on skill and improv to beat and outshoot a team. They did it the right, sustainable way: fantastic forechecks, generally clean breakouts, and playing with purpose.

Was an absolute joy to be in the building for that one. If this is a glimpse of what they are building towards, we have some exciting hockey ahead of us.

(Ps. I took some good out of that Toronto game. Consistency might be the issue in the early part of the season but I'm optimistic right now.)

Morgan Barron

Lots of looks, he was feeling it.

3 goals baby! (Shuffles has 4)
I’ve really been impressed with Barron this year. He definitely has some offensive upside. he’s had some good looks this year and finally something went in. Lambert, Baron and a second is downright criminal for 25 games of Copp. Not to mention copp has done nothing this year as of yet. Maybe he truly is a 3rd liner.

St. Louis looked like another team that wanted to get home from their road trip, that stuck them in the Peg for the final leg, and the Jets were well prepared tonight.

Winning division games looks good, because the Jets now sit one point back of Colorado for 2nd place in the division. Technically the 2nd place team is the one who got beaten tonight, and if you come away with victories against 2 of the 3 best in the division, hoping for the same results against the bottom of the division.

Execution I think everyone did their job. Morrissey's best game of the year. Stanley's too, I thought. Glad Barron finally netted one. Gagner's goal was the real dagger. Not a big offseason signing but a valuable one.

Adam Lowry is a born leader, he's wearing that letter with a lot of pride this year.

Just keep up the good work boys. October ends with a 3 in 4 road trip through L.A, Phoenix and Vegas, get your sun while you can, but keep working to achieve the goal.

Still a decent chance for a winning record this month.

It's okay to give the guy some credit for having such a solid game. If he can play like that consistently that is a big add for the team.

Giving credit is fine when you consider all the context. The two work really well together. The Jets need to fix the middle pairing now. Really not sold on Morrissey and Pionk being the top pairing.

The thing is Stanley's analytics were much better than DeMelo's tonight which would suggest he wasn't being carried. His numbers were amazingly good across the board. But agreed I'm not quite sure if the pairings completely work, but tonight has been the most encouraging I've seen in a long time.

I thought that as well. Specifically, their paired inability to win puck battles behind the net.

The difference was essentially one shift in the 3rd before the Jets' 2nd goal where Stanley was able to change after 50 seconds and DeMelo got caught for 1:30 (for 0.325 xGA), so... meh

It's a good thing that the 64-2 pairing is putting up decent results after both have had a rough start to the season (separately), but let's not pretend it's not also due to a combination of: a) getting a bit less TOI then they were before (especially tonight where Jets couldn't score on the PP, so there was fewer 5v5 minutes), and; b) are being kept away from the opponent's top 6 as much as reasonably possible, especially at home with the last change. (Also Blues kinda just gave up in the last period of the last game of their road trip.)

Nevertheless - something to build on as this staff tries to work out all the kinks. We're starting to see better efforts from everyone defensively when they aren't in a panic in their own zone (with the exception of the PK at the moment), but I still have a lot of questions of this team offensively (and unfortunately, 64-2 ain't going to add much to that with DeMelo... not being that, and Stanley just whipping em from the point even when there are better options available).

One thing I'll add about tonight, is that the much maligned Logan Stanley lead the team in both CF% at 72.73% and xGF% of 85.88% tonight (according to Natural Stat Trick).

Happy to see this guy put together a good game. Gives me hope for him and I feel (slightly) less annoyed that Heinola isn't playing

I guess Demelo is the Stanley whisperer

Edit: still hoping for Samberg and Heinola to end up being more than a sheltered 6th Dman, though.
