Blues Trade Proposals Part X

Here's what I think the chances of resigning the 3 rentals that I bring up.

Miller - 50%, everything that we bring up is just interpretation. He could sign a fair deal to play for a contender and he could also want Lundqvist moeny.

Callahan - 10-15%. Just because there's always a slight chance, but it just won't happen.

Legwand - 75-100%. He wants to stay in the midwest, he fills a need and would only require a reasonable extension.

I'd order my list of wants as Legwand, Callahan, Miller and in that order. I want Legwand badly right now. He's playing some great hockey this year and he fills a big time need. Plus i think we'd have a good shot at re-signing him as a backup plan to Stastny. If we trade for Legwad and re-sign him, plus get Stastny we can always move Sobtoka or Legwand over to the wing on the third line. I still think this team can win with Elliott in the pipes if we play well enough. Callahan would be a definite upgrade on Stewart and would fit much better for the playoffs. Miller, I could take it or leave it, but I do think he is the most likely of the three for us to actually trade for.

Edit: I know it's a total longshot, but would anybody want Craig Smith if we could get him?

Rumor on Sens board of Stewart for Methot at the deadline. Rumor comes from a poster on hockeybuzz who evidently had the inside track on B.Murray being hired. For what it's worth.

If we get Stastny.

Steen-Backes-Oshie
Schwartz-Stastny-Tarasenko
Sobotka-Legwand-Jaskin

Best top 9 in the world.

Haha, dumbest rumor I've ever heard of.

Ive been drooling over this line up for awhile now. All 9 players can move up and down and it wouldn't look out of place.

That particular rumor makes no sense but Stewart to Ottawa could be a reasonable landing spot. There was a recent article in the Ottawa Sun where the author (not Garrioch) speculated that Bryan Murray's most coveted type of player this deadline was a forward who was not a rental. If Army wanted to maximize Stewart's value he should trade him pre-deadline but if he understandably doesn't want to deal a roster player for futures on a Cup caliber team than I think Ottawa would be a prime landing spot for a Stewart salary dump this offseason. (ya know, after he does nothing in the playoffs and his value further erodes and Army will have to beg someone to take on his bloated salary).

Only possibility is if we are moving Cole in a deal for Miller.

Paajarvi+Cole+Stewart for Miller+Methot

We already have 8 NHL defensemen, why would we add a 9th? I shouldn't have to explain why it's a dumb rumor.

There are other ways to express your opinion. When someone drops a bit of info just to pass it along, it doesn't require a "haha derpy derp dumbest thing I've ever heard". You can just state that you don't think that makes any sense because....and leave it at that. Whatever, again...... just passing it along.

I'm not calling you dumb or that you're dumb for passing that along. That rumor seems just like that one poster here that said a Miller trade was imminent before the Olympic break.

He never did call you dumb. He said the rumor was the dumbest he's heard, as in the rumor itself was dumb, which it was .

Stewart for Methot was probably Ottawa's approach. Doubt anything happens on that front.

What would the Blues be sending back for Legwand?

Futures would be my guess. Unless we need to open up a roster spot. Then thinking about Nashville, my guess would be Paajarvi if they want a roster player.

I have no idea of what Ottawa's prospect pool will look like, but I would guess Stewart to Ottawa, Florida, NYI, Montreal makes a lot of sense either now or in the offseason. NYI needs to reach the cap floor. Ottawa and Montreal could use goal scoring and size. Florida needs top 6 forwards and has a deep pool of prospects to make a deal.

2nd+mid prospect. If interest is high, maybe a little more, but there hasn't been much rumors about teams being interested and it was rumored that Nashville is looking to get a 1st or 2nd.

Vancouver is taking calls on Kesler. This deadline might actually be really exciting, especially since we are involved in multiple areas.

2nd + Kurker? I'm thinking they might want Maceachern though since it looks like Kurker won't amount to anything.

Probably something like that. If there is another interested team, then the prospect could have to be upgraded. I think those 2, along with Tesink and Veilleux would be the forwards that could be used.

Could be as low as just a 2nd or 2nd+conditional pick.

It makes no sense if we assume Armstrong isn't looking to tweak his defense. I've seen several posters blithely skip past this(not you necessarily) and it strikes me as odd that it's being so quickly disregarded as a potential avenue Armstrong might be wanting to go. I'm not saying he is wanting to go that way, but it's possible. How feasible that is with 8 guys under contract is a great point, but not impossible to overcome if the Blues sent a dman or two out the door.

Source? Not being sarcastic. I'd like to check it out and stay in the loop on it.

Yeah I'd move anyone of Tesink, Veilleux, or Kurker in a deal for Legwand in a heartbeat. I'd like to hold on to Maceachern, but it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker.
