This is the exact opposite of the Anaheim. We are clearly the better team, just can't find a way to get another one in. I'm happy with the effort. Outplaying a good team on the road like this is encouraging.
Blues outplayed ANA in two of the 3 games and lost them both. This is eerily similar.

It's Pee Wee hockey. Get the line as fast as you can, or pass it to someone who can do it faster.

What did he want Jackman to do there? Come to a complete stop on the blueline as Perron was skating right at him? He has tremendous vision, but his thought process just baffles me sometimes.

I think the problem is when he's rushing with a guy like Jackman the other guy can't mentally keep up with Perron's thought process.

Well, that offside pretty much ends it. We had a chance to get one more shot.

Exactly. It is hockey fundamentals.

Vancouver is such a classless organization. Slew-footing guys. Diving left and right, bullying guys after the whistle for no reason. And their history of things prior to just tonight.

Just such a classless organization, top to bottom.

Frustrating to watch the end of that.

Hardly a surprising end though... same as the 'Hawks game earlier in the year.

We get it. You hate Backes. The fact of the matter is, they both sucked tonight.

Perron at least helped do something that led to a goal. Backes did nothing. He continues to do nothing but disappoint, and the excuses keep coming.

I think the point is that there shouldn't be a thought process there. Either Perron pushes the play himself to get the line, or he passes it over to Jackman to get the line, or he dumps it into Jackman's corner.

What Perron actually did shouldn't ever be an option on that play.

One goal. Outside of that he did nothing. Backes has had a crappy season and he's been called out for it, you just seem to think its not enough that people are calling him out.

Divers? Check. Whiners? Check. If they would have won this game being the better team I would have different thoughts. They should feel fortunate. Blues let up a bit in the second and didnt dive or whine enough in front of the refs. Its a loss.

No I understand what you're saying. I think sometimes he's too creative for his own good. He needs to stick with the basics on a play like that.

Agreed. Even if we would consider it an option the prerequisite would be crossing the blueline first, then pull up/dangle. But to be honest even that is a very below average chance of success.

I'm going the optimistic/positive route:

We outplayed them, that much was obvious. We took a period off and they took advantage, kudos to them (say what you will about the Canucks as an organization).

We're the better team, and I think we probably beat them more often than not (I've been waiting a long time to say that in regards to teams like the Canucks and Red Wings...now it's just the Hawks and Kings that are the problem  ). We should be encouraged by our play tonight, and learn to get in the mindset that every minute, every shift, every period counts.

We get Oshie back on Saturday after a lot of rest, and we play a very beatable Oilers team. We'll bounce back.

:yo:

Blues remind me of a hot chick that doesnt know she's hot. They know they are better than some teams but wilt when they meet another good team. Vancouver isnt even good this year, but still they think they are playing some great team and dont play their game when adversity hits. All confidence goes out the window.

Simply, they are weak minded and not confident as a group when something bad happens.
