Hard to believe in last quarter century Canadian teams have won more NBA titles than Stanley Cups. And over past 50 years Toronto has won 2 World Series, 1 NBA title, and no Cups.

St. Louis became the 8th city to win at least one championship in each of the major 4 sports (Cardinals 11, Blues 1, Hawks 1, Rams 1). poggers

Thank goodness the Raptors finally did it! Now my hometown can go back to normal in a week. (Or so ....)

I'm already missing hockey, so I searched the recordings on my machine.

I found a game vs. Nashville from a couple of years ago and watched it. We were a pretty unimpressive team, with Upshall, Paajarvi, Jaskin, Allen, Brodziak, Stastny, et al.

Armstrong did a great job of upgrading the roster for this season's team.

Having went to the parade and seen the Arch grounds for the first time since it was redone, all I have to say is that it was a massive waste of money. The downtown is no more connected to the Arch nor river than it was before. The street grid is still a mess. There is little that really happened that makes me feel any real value was gained. The Museum is the only real positive upgrade.

In general the urban design of this project was terrible. The arch grounds are still on an island.

I wonder what David Backes is thinking these days.

The season ended with the Blues winning the Cup and Backes sitting in the Bruin's pressbox. Rumor has it that the Bruins are going to buy him out.

I liked Backes when he was here. He was a good citizen, a tough competitor and a good captain (I know many will disagree, but its my opinion.) But he left town for a longer term with Boston, and he probably won't be with them through the original term of the deal.

He's going to be leaving the league with egg on his face, and he's the one to blame for it.

Probably some players would be on LTIR in his position, but I think he was trying to honor his contract and strive for a Cup. Even if he’s bought out, I don’t see him having egg on his face.

Does any other man here cry easily?r

I wear my emotions on my sleeve and honestly don't care what others think.

I cry watching YouTube and have never made it through an episode of Extreme Home Make Over (since cancelled) without crying.

I'm not a wimp or wuss. I like fighting to a fault.

Maybe it's because my dad never cried? ...don't buy that.
s
I think it's because I was raised with enough confidence to be true to/with myself.

I'm a crier too bro, also was a fighter growing up. Boxed in the amateurs for 5-6 years until my hands couldn't hold up. Marine enlisted medically disqualified because of a sleeping disorder (sleep with left eye open) still train in kickboxing. But will tear up for movies (happy or sad endings) music, you name it. Yep I'm a crier too.

Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

About 2 or 3 times a year I wake up with the worse possible pain you can imagine. Either from my eyeball somehow getting scratched, or the air being to dry and it dries my eye out. Takes about two full days from that point for all the pain to go away. I was born with no eye-fold on my left eye, until surgery that eye didn't open until I was 3 months old according to my mom. The first surgeon made a mistake and removed too much skin from my eyelid before creating the fold. 2 more surgeries followed to attempt to fix the mistake, but to no avail leaving me with a lazy eye and when I relax my eyes or go to sleep because there is not enough skin on my eyelid it opens up when I'm relaxed or asleep (that use to freak the f*** out of new friends or girlfriends that had no idea until they seen me sleeping lol.) You almost can't tell now as a adult the scar right at the edge of my eye from boxing is more noticeable, but growing up the lazy eye was very noticeable. Except for those 2-3 days a year it's not so bad, but the marine corp considers sleeping with 1 eye open a sleeping disorder, or at least they did in St. Louis around 1998.

Damn, I couldn’t even imagine. Well I’m glad it doesn’t effect you too much now a days, aside from the couple days.

I’m a crier and fighter as well.

Former Army medic (infantry) and Navy Corpsman with Marines at Camp Del Mar. But the only thing I combatted as a Corpsman was climbing back up the hill from the beach after a long day of drinking.

Hoorah!

I did 3 tours to the Persian Gulf.

Every deployment we lost men.

But I respect a HM running with Marines more than what I did though.

Bravo Zulu shipmate!

I saw all of my action in Iraq with the Army.

I tried to get myself deployed with the Marines, but I was the only medic/HM with combat experience, so they kept me back to train the younger ones.

We are a little crazy.

Thanks for your service men.

Unrelated, I just discovered “What we do in the dark” tv series on FX. It’s cocreated by Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords. Basically a mockumentary about these 4 vampires living on Staten Island. Every episode has me laughing out loud.

You guys ever go through the Straits of Hormuz?

Crazy place.

We had multiple Iranian gun ships run at us.

We had a Los Angeles class submarine surface between us, USS Roosevelt, and the gun ships. The Iranian's quickly turned around.

It doesn't surprise when tensions flare at that spot.

Nope. Not me. I was always on the ground

I can only imagine as a shipboard mate that that shit was intense

I’m sure you do.

I’m sure we could share stories well into the night, but maybe we can do that in private sometime.

That's probably for the best. I remember my uncle telling me about hanging out in a bar with a buddy and a stranger. After a couple of hours of drinking and reminiscing, the stranger wanted to know if they'd help remove some shrapnel that he thought was still in his leg.
