I feel we don't have as much extravagant highlight reel goals like we did previous eras - Jajr, Sundin, Lemieux etc. I don't watch as much hockey now though, so there's my disclaimer.

I would assume the base skill level has dramatically increased? Or the game has become more codified?

Half those highlights would have 3 bodies blocking shots between them and the net today.
