Helle, Josh and Lowry have all been huge disappointments. In my head I had Morrisey being a national story as he lead us on a cup run, but he has been awful.
Overstated a bit but basically true. It`s as though we were playing this series with our entire core absent and filled with replacement players. Scheifele totally absent because/ Helle playing his absolute worst with no confidence/ Josh not making any of the plays we`ve become accustomed to see/ and Lowry just not playing his normal game at all. It`s possible to rationalize that the physical nature of the series explains Scheifele and perhaps Josh, but Lowry is a complete mystery. He hasn`t even been engaged enough to have suffered any physical setback. And if he wasn`t ready to play from the outset due to lingering injury, what is the org doing ?

How are we missing the playoffs?

Do you seriously think the only reason we made the playoffs this year was Hellebuyck? We had the best defensive metrics and won the presidents trophy ffs.

You also don't think the up and coming goalie that we swap for couldn't give us reliable enough goaltending to make the playoffs?

I'm not saying the team is playing well enough, obviously that is not the case, however you are underestimating how a poor goalie affects the teams psyche and performance.

Again you go back to the screens and traffic. Yet people have disproven your assertion that there are more screens for Helle in the playoffs with actual counting stats.

I guess Hellebuyck is the first goalie in history that's had to deal with traffic and screens in the playoffs, poor guy.
Yup. Hellebuyck had 25 goals saved above expected more than, for example, the 16th best goalie in that metric. If you add 25 goals to our GA this year we still finish second in the entire league in goal differential.

Ehlers may not be at 100 per cent but he still managed to have a palpable impact. Ehlers played some of his best hockey alongside Adam Lowry during the regular season and alongside Cole Perfetti, the Jets makeshift second line outchanced St. Louis 9-2.

They played well. Happy Cole got the monkey off his back with his first goal. I think that line comes up big tomorrow.

This is damning evidence and matches up with my eye test.

Jets are not suddenly giving up more attempts through screens and allowing more deflections in the playoffs. It just seems that way because we’ve got a Stuart Skinner knockoff tending goal for us this series.

Exactly. We are noticing it only because there are more large events i.e goals that are capturing our attention. Nobody registers screen attempts where the puck doesn't go in.

He was out week to week with a UBI earlier this year. I would bet real money that it's a shoulder.

When your shoulder is f***ed, you are definitely not going to be hitting they way you normally do, and it can affect other things like shooting.

I think we have some substantial unreported injuries on this team. Morrissey and Lowry are 2 of them.

I feel like every failed playoff run we learn that Josh was banged up.

Can you imagine you have a leaky goalie, you go into a building where you've played like shit and the first shot goes in after you've held the play for several minutes?

Then, you battle back, tie it up after having a disallowed goal, and the opposition marches down and scores again AND THEN your goalie lets in a goal that a well placed snowbank would have stopped?

Please try and tell me that that does not affect a team.

This series is record setting in the number of hit thrown through 6 games. This is by far the most physical series of any in the first round. We have as many hits as them and are tied 3-3 in games. You can say they aren’t playing great at times, say the goalie can’t stop a beach ball and is mentally weak, but they haven’t backed down physically at all.
Having as many hits is only stats. Watch the games and you will see the nature of the hits that the Blues are pounding onto the Jets. They are grinding us to sand including targetting our stars. It has been an effective strategy for them. We may have about the same number of stats hits, but they continue to pound the shit out of us with theirs.

I would like to see a 3rd pair adjustment. Go back to what we were before acquiring an over the hill/dis interested liability that is Luke Schenn.

It’s not the sole reason we are losing. Goaltending has been a hot mess among other things but it would help to get Schenn off the ice. I sure don’t want to see him back here next season. He brings nothing to the team.

Yup. That goal broke the team. They fought there asses off to tie the game and then were carrying the play. Binnington comes up huge on a two on one against fly and then not long after Helle let's in the first good chance St. Louis gets. Not arguing that it was a soft goal but he doesn't make the big save and we are down again. Fine no biggie but almost immediately after he let's in that abomination of a goal because he's not focused enough the get square to the shooter and juat flat out whiffs on it. The team loses all confidence as how can you not when it looks like your goalies head isn't even in the game.

It isn't just the amount he's letting, it's about when and how he's letting them in.

The Jets would be fighting for a WC spot without Helle and that’s like playoff games at the end of the season … just ask the Blues. We all know how much playoff toughness the Jets have.right?
Screen shots is what wins games in the playoffs … greasy goals. Some luck is needed when a puck goes pass 4 or 5 guys and into the net. How many Jet shots from the point got blocked by the Blues D or missed the net?
People can blame Helle all they want but it all boils down to toughness in the playoffs. Jets get out muscled in the playoffs that’s the real problem.
Hagel lays a dirty hit on Barkov 2 games later he is knocked out of the series and who is the Panthers coach?

Wasn’t it Lowry who got destroyed by Schenn in game 1 or2?

i don't doubt guys are ailing, not 100%.... all of the teams are at this point of the year after the regular season. did folks see the TBL injury list? i am sure that's common for most teams right now.

Alright I'm as annoyed, disgruntled and depressed as the rest of this sorry lot of fans.
But F%&K it!!!
St. Louis has been SH!T in our building.
I had close to no faith that we would win in their barn last night and I have zero faith that they will win in ours.
Whatever they do right in their home rink they DON'T do here.

We're F$%KING WINNING THIS GAME LIKE IT OR NOT.
Strap in, saddle up, take your seat because were landing this F&^KING SERIES on Sunday and sending the Blues packing.
Period.
End of story.

I don't know what will happen in round 2 and we have reason to be worried but the Jets have at least 1 more win left in them.
If the Jets can go 13 - 9 (in the right order) the rest of the way we can win the Cup.
Sounds manageable ;)

Of the few pro games I’ve watched at ice level right behind the goal, one thing that always blows me away is the amount of traffic in front of goal. Literally every shot that isn’t a breakaway or odd man rush could be considered a screen attempt, that’s how condensed it gets in the slot area.

If you can‘t consistently deal with screens and tips, you can’t function as a pro goalie. Simple as that.

The bottom line is that TNSE knew all of the issues after last season and chevy solved none of them unfortunately.

Helle has brain problems in the playoffs... so we needed a legit 1B and we did have cap room

Stan was a disaster last playoffs and still is... instead his role was increased

Jomo and pionk were smashed by the forecheck and still are - not sure how you stop that though

No one being developed at 2C - perfetti or barron are legit candidates... names is our new bryan little

That being said nelson and henrique would be worse than what we have

And again Lowry prob should be our 4th line and pk center - and roll 3 scoring lines...

Yup Ehlers scores and its a different game ... maybe.
The second goal was all Demelo's fault seriously any good defensmen would have taken Broberg into the boards when he went around the net. Instead Broberg stops and pass the puck to the SMALLEST Blues player standing in front of Helle UNTOUCHED. Helle had no chance on that play. Who knows maybe that threw Helle off his game questioning himself WTF I am suppose to do? The Schenn followed goal that which was bad but it looks like the shot hit the bottom on Poink's stick to change the angle ... not an excuse Helle should of had it.
All this noise of Helle has to be getting to him and who knows maybe he trying harder and its just throwing him off his game. To blame Helle for the losses imo is just BS after everything he has done for the Jets he gets treated like crap.

and had we just had average goaltending were off to the 2nd round... what does that have to do with getting hit?

some people acting like the blues invented the screen and helle is the only one that has to face it...
