Arniel in the post game show was pissed. Echos of Maurice and Bowness ring out as he tries to figure out what this group's problem is.
You have a link? Or is the full thing on the jets YouTube channel?

I can't believe it's 2025, we have a three time Vezina winner, potential Hart winner on our hands, and I am legitimately clenching every single shot towards the net in this series.

There could be a shot from the parking lot and it's likely finding it's way past Helle right now.

"He was screened, that one wasn't really his fault, etc" - I gave him a pass for Colorado, but enough is enough. It's the f***ing playoffs. When people are dissecting the 6th goal if it was his fault or not in games -- I got news for you, it's likely not going to go your way anyways.

All the best goalies of our time find a way and get the job done. Most importantly, they stop the bleeding and can be counted on to make that gotta have it save that breathes new life into a game for their respective teams.

I guess the good news for Helle is that he has the chance to salvage this nightmare fuel series on Sunday. Time to finally step up and own the moment when the chips are down for this team.

See you then, boys and girls.

Having two of the best players in the world can mask a lot of warts on a team. We don't have that luxury.

Yup, very few teams can outscore a goalie giving up an average of 4 goals a game.

This teams whole shtick is suppression and limiting goals against. When Helle starts letting them in left and right it throws the whole game plan out the window and the team starts to unravel.

Someone posited the hypothesis that Helle was better when we had a big defence that could box players out, and now with our smaller D he’s really struggling. Not sure that’s it but there is some correlation anyway.

Also, just following up on who you would start next game and how you like your eggs cooked?
Calmrie and let the forwards be less passive defending..

Should we go with Comrie in Game 7? Arneil will have to have some big balls to attempt it, but what if it works?
Like others have posted, Helle has been marginally better on home ice, so I’d start him. BUT, if Helle lets in just one goal - - - just one goal, no matter if it was a screenshot, deflection, Blues PP - I don’t care - I’d pull Helle. I have zero faith Helle would have the mental fortitude for the rest of the game. Harsh? Too bad, so sad. Helle hasn’t earned the benefit of the doubt in the playoffs (at least not from me).
The 2017-2018 playoffs, especially Game 7 versus Nashville was absolutely electric, something I’ll remember forever, but this is a “What have you done for me lately” business.

I was just thinking that, like every single time when they had o zone possession I was just expecting them to score on every single shot dangerous or not, if we can feel it you can bet your bottom dollar the boys on the ice feel it ten times more.

They don't have faith in him anymore hence the collapse when he lets in the softies, it just sucks all the energy out of them.

I know sandberg is a stick checker but he looks big enough to steer the forward away from the goalie, but I guess he doesn't,I keep wanting sandberg to develop his physical game but to no avail.he is going to ask for a truck load but personally I think he has to develop other parts of his game, but I'm neither a scout or gm.

The “best goalie” finds the puck around screens, makes easy short side saves and yes, even occasionally steals a game all by himself. If Hellebuyck doesn’t turn into that goalie for the rest of the playoffs, he will go down as one of the most overrated players in history (and no, that’s not hyperbole).

And although he likely wouldn’t have made a difference tonight, Scheifele needs to play Sunday unless he’s dead or in a coma.

And I would be totally fine with Morgan Barron playing 20 minutes in game seven.

He’s overrated.

It seems that Helybuck is a regular season goalie and doesn’t react well to the pressure of playoffs. BUT it’s not all on the goalie when a team loses a game. However it can’t be overlooked that he has been pulled in 3 games.

Helle looks shaky even when handling the puck behind the net. That was not a problem during the regular season. No matter what he says, his body language shows he lost confidence.
He a Vezina winner this season and He’s earn the right to start game 7 but yea the lease will be short

Listen advanced stats aren't the be all end all but we have the second best XGA/60 rate of any team in the playoffs and it's not materially different then our regular season numbers. This to me indicates that we aren't actually defending all that differently then the regular season.

What is the largest difference, it's we are getting the worst goaltending of the playoffs. It's making it seem the Jets are shiting the bed defensively because any half chance or scoring chance is ending up in our net.

As the rates show we aren't giving up more per game then we did in the regular season. It just seems like it because our goalie isn't making the saves.
I disagree -
The Blues came out with a game plan to screen Helle -
Throw the stats out the window - what they don't tell you is how the other team is executing their offense.
It's pretty obvious that the way to score on Helle is to screen. They did it LY pretty much the exact same way.
And we continue to struggle with keeping that middle ice clear.

Helle's wheels fall off when he isn't seeing the puck - and it impacts the rest of the game for him, and for the team.
That's the problem - our blueline cannot clear the middle ice - none of them. All the Blues need to do is review LY's tape to see how our D and Helle, struggle when things are clogged up down the middle.

So what's the answer? How do we convince our d to do the work needed to win those battles? Or can they? I really don't know. All I do know is that our guys do not look like they are working in over drive - I don't see that extra gear engaged. Is it compete? Do our guys lack that edge you need to fight those battles? And here's the kicker - PO's is all about the battles that you don't necessarily see in the reg season. And that is why you see teams with less talent, battling hard in the PO's - they know it can be the difference maker when you are out skilled. And they know which teams are most susceptible (and are proven susceptible).

So why are we losing the battles?

Side note: Helle is not going to bounce back if we continue to allow teams to screen him. He does not do well when screened and then it snowballs to the point everyone is rattled - and I don't see that changing in the next 2 days. We can continue to call him out when it hits the fan (again) - or we can deal with the issue that he has already called out in LY's season ending presser.
