Blues 2024-2025 Prospect Thread

Since we are not going to sign Mayich, is there a forward that we could trade him for in the same situation? Maybe a guy like Joel Maatta who finished his season at the University of Vermont? Edmonton is pretty rich down the middle and light on D. He is just a potential 4th line center, but he would get plenty of time in Springfield lacking center depth. We don't have a healthy 4th line center option.

I don't think even in this situation Mayich has a lot of value to be honest. We might get a better result in offering Future Considerations (so another team doesn't need to add his contract) for someone, like we did with Dakota Joshua, or just try so sign an undrafted player from the NCAA/CHL/europe.

I also wouldn't mind flipping one of Buchinger or Lööf for a similar potential NHL-Center. Julius Miettinen comes to mind: 2nd round pick in last years draft but hasn't yet progressed in his development as expected.

Dvo has a good shot, Holloway has a good shot, Bolduc has a really good shot, but Snuggs shot is elite. I cant imagine having 4 guys that shoot like that on the roster. And that’s not counting Kyrou and Thomas. I’m still undecided on Neighbors shot.

Neighbours has a good shot, but it's certainly a notch below the rest of that list. But he's absolutely had a few times where he's flat out beat the opposing goalie.

I’ve been really impressed with Bolduc’s shot. Every one is an absolute missile, and he’s better able to get it off in traffic than I expected.

I would say Neighbour’s shot is neither a strength or a weakness. He’s a capable shooter, and I think we can probably count on him for 20+ goals per season. He’s at his best as a junkyard dog, net-front garbage goal kinda guy. That’s incredibly valuable, and it’s a skill set in of itself, but I don’t think it’s usually what people are talking about when they talk about shooting skills.

Like if Bolduc, Snuggerud, and Dvorsky all hit, Neighbours might score 30 tucks per season just off the rebounds those dudes create.

Snuggerud goes with #21. Instantly thought of Berglund despite Bozak wearing the number more recently.

I think he is pretty good at beating goalies from close range. He can elevate the puck well and has a pretty good backhand too.

Semi curious to know if there's any particular reason behind it.
Wouldn't be surprised if it's completely random.

We haven't had a real "Star" wear the number 21, but it's got a pretty strong history here(Larry Keenan, Mike Zuke, Todd Ewan, Jeff Brown, Jammer, Bozak and Berglund among others)

If he won't sign with Edmonton, then Maatta doesn't have much value either.
